Amazing Tour

Bobby Pinn provides an excellent walking tour. His knowledge of music and bands of the East Village is amazing. We loved how he talked about the bands and individuals, provided picutres of the time, and also provided some trivia for the group. The length of the tour was perfect and the pace was just right. I have been recommending this tour to everyone we tell about our trip. Definitely worth every penny!!!! Great fun!

Very entertaining. Bobby Pinn is the real deal. His enthusiasm and affection for the people and places of the East Village make this a great way to spend a couple hours learning about an era that is slowly fading away. My wife and grown children loved it.

Had a great time on this tour. Learned a lot about the history of the East Village. I think the tour is a must-see attraction for any visitor interested in the music and art scene history of the East Village.

very informative about local music history

I registered my son and I for the tour. My son digs the Ramones, the Clash and other punk groups and the tour hit many places of interest for him, especially the Joe Strummer memorial. I liked the broad rock and punk history that occurred in such a small enclave of the city; just a little more detail in a city filled with so many minute interests. The tour was also interesting on a personal and a professional level regarding the architecture of the neighborhood and the long transition its been going through with the evils of gentrification. The guide was knowledgeable regarding the local scene, the GG Allin tale a particularly good one. My son knew it all already though, but he liked relating it to where it happened. The tour was definitiely a highlight of our visit to the city.

Me and my two teenagers (14 &16) took the walking tour and had a great time. It was our first trip to NY City and I would highly recommend the tour for music fans of all ages. It was a great way to get a taste of all that New York has to offer. My kids are hooked on the Big Apple. We can't wait for our next visit. Thanks!

Interesting & good fun

Excellent event!! Interesting, funny & informative guide made the whole event great fun! (He even suggested rearranging due to forecast bad weather a couple of days ahead ... which we did ... and it proved to be a good move!) A good mix of walking (not too far, which seemed to suit everyone) & stops to see interesting sites & listen to annecdotes. Well-sized group (not too big) made it easy to keep close to the guide whilst walking, which made 'chatting' between the stops possible, adding to the event. A useful leaflet was provided afterwards with recommendations for eating/drinking/music venues + a couple of discount vouchers thrown in. Focused mainly on Rock & Punk, but with a couple of sites to do with Blues & Jazz ... something for (almost) everyone. Thoroughly recommended!

Nice to get off the traditional tourist treadmill. Interesting look at the history of cult, influential music in New York. Just wrap up warm!

A Walk On the Wild Side
Wed, Apr 11, 07   1:00 PM MariaLHarris Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My concern before embarking on this walking tour was that we would not locate the meeting point as a previous reviewer had complained that it was difficult to find. I worried unnecessarily however - we met up with our guide Bobby Pinn with no problems at all. After being warmly welcomed, we then embarked on a fascinating two hour or so walk around the (once) wild side of New York, the area that provided the spawning ground for the 70s NY punk scene. We started where Joey Ramone once lived, walked the streets that Debbie Harry and the boys in Blondie tramped, posed in front of legendary New York Dolls' hangout, walked through Iggy Pop's old neighbourhood and ended our tour outside the sad sight / site of the now defunct CBGBs. Throughout our tour Bobby gave us some great anecdotes and tales of Rock n' Roll excess and strangeness, as well as testing us on our rock trivia. To the passer-by it must look odd to see a group of tourists huddling round an un-prepossessing grocery store on the Lower East Side gazing at its frontage in awe, (particularly being as we were in the shadow of some of the world's greatest architectural landmarks), however the tour really gives the participant a flavour of the environment and conditions that informed the work of so many of the greats from the NY music scene of the 60s and 70s. Plus it's a great way to burn off some of those calories amassed from a heavy egg and pancake breakfast earlier!

Bobby Pinn's walking tour is a MUST if you're in NYC and a fan of REAL r'n'r such as New York Dolls, Dead Boys, Ramones, etc. He gives you a fantastic experience of the times back when it all happened around East Village – the history 'bout the big rock stars but also some cool stories about the underground heroes. A MUST, I say. Magnus Kull, Stockholm, Sweden

The best thing about this tour is it goes around to all sorts of places i would never have found or recognised if i had not been on the tour. old classic venues are now shops and banks. and the other great thing about the tour is the tour guides stories - they bring the locations alive - interesting engaging and entertaining. I would reccommend this for any fans of this era of New York music.
