My girlfriend and I found the rock Junket tour to be surely worthwile and a good way to spend a couple hours on a Sauturday morning. Our guide was good -natured, well-prepared, and entertaining. We appreciated that in addition to the music related sites, he also had plenty to offer on history and background about the East Village in general. And having some vintage pictures and album covers to flesh out the tour sites was a welcome addition. Give it a go ---- there are plenty of worse ways to use a couple hours.

Good stories and details, not just the obvious

The rock junket tour covered the history of rock in New York City in a surprisingly concise and amusing manner. I saw not just the obvious places like CBGB and Joey Ramone Place but also less-known places that would be difficult to find out about without expert help. The tour also covered a wider array of musical genres than I expected, ranging from punk and glam to pop and jazz.

Great tour - we are from Sydney, Australia & wanted to do something a bit different in NY. Bobby knows heaps about the NY rock scene, has a good sense of humour plus you can go with him for a beer at the end of the tour! What more could you want! An offbeat tour that is well recommended.

This was a great way to spend two hours. It also makes a great gift for anyone of any age (from anywhere) interested in the history of the punk scene in NYC. Bobby Pinn was really knowledgable and fun. Highly Recommended!

A great tour given with love and enthusiasm for what this area meant and continues to mean to the history of New York! I've already told my friends about this great find and one of my great experiences coming to the Big Apple!!

Bobby Pinn, with his detailed knowledge of the subject, along with his stash of visuals and anecdotes, presents the rock history of East Village with a focus and perspective that could not be delivered in any other way. As the character of this remarkable neighborhood slips away in the face of encroaching 'progress', anyone who has a passion for the loud, obnoxious, and culturally important music that was born here, needs to do this tour.

This tour is awesome. A must for anyone interested in The New York Rock scene. Bobby Pinn was most informative & provided many interesting stories. I was truly dissapointed when it ended!! And what a fabulous way to end by finishing up at CBGB's (RIP). Very insightful and well worth the $25. I would recommend this tour in an instant. Nathaniel, Sydney Australia.

Going on this tour made me wish I'd lived in NYC in the 1970's! I have already recommended the tour to loads of friends who are also travelling to New York. I saw so many places that were connected to musicians I have always loved and the guide was able to offer so much insight into what happened at each of these places, and in most cases, show photos of how the places looked back in the day. The tour guide was also able to answer questions about sites that were not specifically on the tour and provide directions for people to find places themselves once the tour had finished. All in all, I can't praise this tour highly enough, I really enjoyed it.

Bobby Pin is the best! He is passionable, funny, really knows about what he does!We went to his punk rock tour with our 13 year old son and it was great. When we arrived home in Brazil after 12 wonderful days in New York our boy keeps telling everyone that this tour was the best of all he did there! You sure are going to have many brazilian Punk Rock lovers from now on... Thanks to Bob Pin, keep on the good work!

Just do this tour - Bobby is great - very knowledgeable and very funny. We passed Roberta Bayley on the street (took Ramones 1st album cover photo) which was an added bonus. Just to see and hear all about the music history in this small area is fantastic. Thanks again.

It was wonderful to see these places that were once the pinnacles of the NYC music scene. The tour guide offered humorous and insightful stories about the musicians that played at these clubs. Due to the gentrification of the area the majority of the sites on the tour are now closed turned into noodle shops but it was awesome to hear about what some seemingly unimportant buildings were...once upon a time, long ago and far away.

ROCK N ROLL HISTORIC JOURNEY

This was my first visit to NYC and being a rock n roll fan ,what better way to find the rock history of THE LOWER EAST SIDE .If you are into your 70s,80s punk/rock then this tour is for you with loads of history of that era mainly, sadly as explained before the tour starts ,most places have been replaced by more modern, corperate places. But luckerly a few real jems are included but get in quick as prob the most famous place CBGBS is closing in next few months. This is a very relaxed morning, with different ages & types of people & a host who can answer quistions if asked.Well worth checking out even with a hangover from the night before!.Just hope some sites are left for next time i visit NYC

If you're a music junkie, then I totallly recommend this walking tour. I've been to New York several times and consider myself pretty knowledgeable about music and pop culture, but there were several surprises on this tour. For example, one of my favourite NYC restaurants is right across the street from the building that Led Zepplin photographed for the cover of their Physical Graffitti LP, and I'd never made the connection until the tour guide (who was engaging and enthusiastic) pointed it out. Charlie Parker's house (which I'd probably never have found on my own) was another highlight and this bit of jazz history in the middle of a rock-and-roll tour was great! The tour was conducted at a leisurely and mellow pace (good thing if you have hangovers from the night before like we did), and it was a great way to introduce yourself to the layout of the St. Mark's neighbourhood if you've never been.
