The best rock tour ever!

I read up on the Rock Junket Tour leading up to my trip to NYC, and Pinn did not let down. Anyone who loves rock, especially the historic NY Punk scene, must pencil this walking tour down when they visit the Big Apple. It was the highlight of my trip. Bought his book, too, and used that as a guide for my own excursions the rest of the days. Can't wait to go back and hit his other tours.

My first tour ever

I brought my 13 year old son with me and we both had a blast. Bobby Pinn was knowledgable and really seemed like a fan of the music, which made it even better, it wasn't just some rehashing of punk history by someone who could care less. Bobby also took some great photos of my son and I which was a plus and one picture of us in front of the great Joe Strummer mural, Bobby said "fridge magnet" and indeed it is! Ha! Thanks!

If you only like current music or mainstream rock you prob won't get much out of it because many of the stories & sites will be about people you've never heard of. But for people who grew up & really know about Warhol, the Ramones, CBGB's, Iggy Pop, etc this tour is fabulous. :)

My teenage son and I enjoyed the Rock Junket tour through the East Village. We were the only ones on the tour so we were able to ask lots of questions. Our guide was knowledgeable, organized and well prepared with photos, album covers and trivia questions and kept the tour moving along. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in NYC's rock history . I would consider going on the Bob Dylan tour the next time I'm in the city. The guide gave us a brochure of some favorite spots to visit after the tour and we had a lot of fun at Generation Records.

It was wonderful to see these places that were once the pinnacles of the NYC music scene. The tour guide offered humorous and insightful stories about the musicians that played at these clubs. Due to the gentrification of the area the majority of the sites on the tour are now closed turned into noodle shops but it was awesome to hear about what some seemingly unimportant buildings were...once upon a time, long ago and far away.

This is a great way to learn a little about the East Village while taking in some cool sights. It is a must tour for any New York Dolls or Ramones fan or anyone who has an interest in music history. Next time you are in New York, skip the silly bus tours and choose the Rock N Roll Walking Tour, you will be happy you did.

More or less lived up to what I thought it would be, but would have liked a little Johnny Thunders info thrown in. If you've read "Please Kill Me " your one step ahead already. Cute tour guide provided some additional eye candy. Covered a wider time frame than I had expected - interested me at 25 and my mother at 48. If you've never done the LES thing before it's a good primer and if you haven't been in a while it's a good refresher course. DO NOT WEAR HEELS!!!!! Bust out the Chucks or creepers for this one. Gets an overall 8.0.

Bobby was such a fun tour guide. He knew so many intimate details behind the history of the NY Rock and Roll scene. I took my mom for her birthday and she had such a great time. Bobby shared personal stories and took us to so many places with such rich history of rock and roll. Definitely recommend Bobby and Rock Junket to anyone who wants to enrich their mind and spirit with rock and roll history.

Perfect length and perfect tone. We walked by the old Pyramid without a pause, but that's a teeny gripe. Overall, a terrific two hours -- love the (essential, inevitable) "folding in" of jazz, pop, poetry, history, Very, very New York. A good time.

Dylan, Hendrix, the Beat Poets and much more! I'd highly recommend to both locals and tourists alike...and will probably go on Rock Junket's other offerings (East Village, Union Square) as well at some point.
