My thanks to Jack O'Neill for allowing his catamaran to be open to the public. We sailed with the crew last Saturday, Sept. 6, 2:30 p.m. The crew was great! I was the group leader for 22 leadership students and staff who were staying at Mission Springs in Scotts Valley. A beautiful day! We live here in the harbor on 6th ave and have for 9 years We have been watching the Oddessy take the childrens groups out and wondered why our grandsons class was not going ( hes in 3rd Grade, its 4th and up) When the ad broke we decided to take him out .You can't beat it for a $20 bill it was short ( 1 Hr.) and very enjoyable. Could have been $ 25 for 1 1/2 hours and stayed closer to shore and cruised Capitola Village down to Longs Marine for a closer look at our beautiful coastline. Crew and Capt. were very nice as well.

This was a fun one hour cruise around the mouth of the Santa Cruz harbor. It would be affordable for a family or group. The crew was very pleasant.

Best Option

We had a great sail. Unfortunately it was quite windy!! The 2 from our group that had done the trip prior to ours said it wasn't cold at all.....not Sunday!! We weathered the wind on the way out and once we tacked around back toward shore it was less breezy. Best part about your option is the ability to bring your own snacks and beverages. Everyone seemed to be munching on something or having a drink of some kind. It was a great way to kick off our afternoon at the beach! Thanks to your very friendly and helpful crew we had a great time.

Really awesome sail, and great upbeat crew! Every sail is unique and different. The price is really inexpensive for an hour on the exquisite Monterey Bay. Plus, really easy going attitude on-board - you can bring champagne and appetizers, or beer and chips. Highly recommended.

Great way to spend part of an afternoon

We had no expectations about what to expect on this trip. We were both pleasantly surprised and had a very enjoyable experience. There was also an unexpected surprise and we were fortunate enough to see two whales that happened to be passing through the bay at the same time as our sailing event. We made a decision to spend most of the day at the harbor and had lunch/breakfast at Aldo’s and followed the sailing event with a couple of drinks at the Crow’s Nest. A very enjoyable day that I would do again!

This was my sisters and I's first sailing experience we only went for an hour in case we got seasick. We were both thouroughly impressed with the boat the crew and the ride. We even got to see 2 humpback whales as a bonus. We will definatly do this again maybe longer next time.

You crew made a point of focusing on the kids (our group had a 6 and 3 year old). At one point, the 3 year old got to take the helm!!! (Fantastic!) Great job to your CREW!!!

Catamarans are just fantastic! My son (age 26) and my daughter (age 32) and I went out on a beautiful, clear, sunny Saturday afternoon. It was so comfortable on the boat. There were several people over 50 and into their 60's+. Kids, everybody enjoyed it. We passed sea otters floating on their backs and playing. Saw sea lions. We sailed near the wharf and saw close to 100 sea lions laying on the planks under the wharf. Gorgeous views of the yacht harbor and people at the boardwalk. Lovely sights. Made you appreciate the beauty in this world of ours. Nice crew...really good, friendly, efficient, professional. Loved it! We'll be back. Priced right too.

My brother and his wife were visiting from NYC. I wanted to include an ocean outing in their itinerary without making a huge commitment in time and money. The sail was perfect. The boat was comfortable and authentic. Not too crowded. The staff was friendly and helpful. We sailed a bit but because of lack of wind had to switch on to motor. This was not predictable and not the fault of the crew. The captain said he would have kept the sails up had the wind cooperated. We saw sea lions and otters. We stayed between the wharf and not as far south as Capitola but it was nice for a short jaunt. It was just enough for us. I recommend this sail to anyone wanting a short, very reasonably priced excursion in the bay.
