Activity Description
A walk through Washington’s tony Georgetown neighborhood is a venture through time. You’ll wind your way past remarkable historic properties, homes of political movers and shakers, and charming boutiques and cafes.
You'll see: - The area formerly known as Herring Hill, a once-bustling Freedmen's community
- Immaculately preserved Federal period homes
- The Tudor Place estate, built by one of Georgetown’s founding families
- Where one of the “All the President’s Men” authors hangs his hat
And of course no one can mention Georgetown without recalling the Kennedys. In the 1950s, John F. Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline almost single-handedly turned the neighborhood into the city’s most politically fashionable place to live. We’ll show you where.
The two mile walk concludes in Georgetown’s shopping and restaurant district just in time for lunch. Or if you’re on a roll, we can point you to the C&O Canal, the historic and bucolic waterway.
What Is Not Included?
This walk includes stops in front of several Georgetown historic buildings. We will not be viewing building interiors.
