A Must When Visiting Savannah!
Fri, Apr 10  10:00 AM Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Attended: Bonaventure Cemetery Walking Tour
Shannon Scott takes touring to another level! He has traveled near and abroad to research the history behind the stories he tells, contacting relatives and even searching out authentic artifacts! Mr. Scott's cemetery walk is not a list of scripted dates and facts. It is an honest, in-depth narrative---well told--- regarding some of Savannah's most influential and noted families, those that shaped the city’s legendary history! It is ever-apparent that Shannon Scott cares about and respects these former Savannahians, whether angelic, notorious or curious. With reverence, he puts his all into depicting, accurately, each persona and scene. Shannon Scott is simply part of Savannah, a legend in his own right!

I treated a friend visiting from Omaha, NE. Despite residing in Savannah for the past 25 years, this was my first guided tour of Bonaventure Cemetery. We found Dawn of the Savannah Dead very informative & theatrical with her stage voice & singing on Johnny Mercer's grave. Length of tour was good. Misbehaving children were a challenge for her & a distraction for us. Blamed the parents for that.

Our guide Shannon gave us excellent historical, cutural and art history background on this stunning place. The foliage and amazing sculpture work take this beyond other cemetery tours. It's a must see for anyone, "taphophile" or not!
