Fun learning about music in Memphis

After taking this tour I question why isn't Memphis called "Music City USA" instead of Nashville? Very interesting but fun with Dillion. Sun Record tour was amazing plus I loved their milkshakes.

What a unique format?! Bring your own instruments, you say. Hand out rhythm devices. Small stage replaced the first few rows on one side of the bus. Very creative.

Guide Shakina was excellent. Great at history, singing a variety of song-styles at appropriate times, had an obvious connection with it all. Made us want to follow up and see more about what she showed us both in person and on the web. Great job!

Studio was a great addition. Glad they saved the radio booth from the building downtown.

Would do this again in a second!

I loved everything about the mojo tour. Eric Huges is a gifted story teller and musician. I learned about my city and the music I love.

Sun Studios was a terrific addition. Right up there with the Motown Museum in Detroit. Don't miss it.

The narrative content from the singing guitar playing guide was interesting and smart, as was her delivery.

Her singing and playing was also great and the songs enhanced the narrative and the whole experience.

Have fun and learn lots!

Sun Studio and Memphis tour

We enjoyed our tour with the musician, he was interesting and fun. It was fun to see the musical sights of Memphis. Our driver, Larry, was great. We enjoyed Sun Studios the most, fun to see how tiny the place was with such bit music coming from it.

Although the weather was cold, the bus was hot with music and entertainment. Can't remember the young ladies name (Sher… something, a student in Memphis). And she was great!!!! Even the bus driver was tapping his feet all along the tour. And the Sun Records addition was a great add on.

This tour, while light hearted, opened our eyes to the role that Memphis played in the development of many styles of music.

Great value and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Tour guide, a local Memphis musician, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Memphis, especially the music. He performed songs along the tour to punctuate the narrative. The best tour I've ever been on!

This tour is not just a sit and listen tour. You get involved, singing and laughing - heck! - some of you even get a tambourine (the rest get shakers), to sing and get involved with . I have been on two of these. One was the regular tour and I thought THAT one was great. This one added the tour of SUN STUDIOS, which in and of itself, is fabulous - a must do. The girl we had knew so much about the area and delivered that in a humorous and knowledgeable way but the knowledge of the artists, at the time - Elvis, B.B. King, etc.- is what sets this tour apart from others. This is a good one and everyone who wants to get some good 'background' before (or after) hitting the Memphis area, should do this. It is really good.
