An Entertaining Way To Tour Memphis

My partner and myself on a visit to Memphis from the UK joined a small group for an extended Backbeat Tour of Memphis including Sun recording studios. We were made to feel welcome immediately by the lady at the ticket office and took our seats on the historic restored Backbeat bus with nice comfortable seats and were treated to an entertaining tour with our tour guide in good singing voice trying to get reserved British tourists to join in, (a difficult Job we don't do audience participation very well) but all in all an enjoyable tour with lots of information good entertainment with nice people. A tour of Memphis with a difference and recommended

Sing Your Way Around Memphis

We had a ball touring Memphis with Daniel Sage. What a personable young fellow. Lots of talent too. Of course, the rhythm section (that was the tour group) made all the difference. We enjoyed seeing the sights around the City and for us one of the highlights was the tour of Sun Studios. We sang and laughed the whole time. I would recommend this tour very highly to anyone interested in a unique tour of Memphis.

Excellent introduction to Memphis music history

This bus tour was good fun, and an very informative introduction to the history of music in Memphis. It covers a lot of interesting detail on people and places. We loved the old bus, which was very comfortable. The organisation seemed a little haphazard, but in practice everything worked out well. We would strongly recommend the extended tour to include the Sun Studios timed tour.

The highlight of our stay in Memphis.

My husband and I booked this tour not knowing quite what to expect and it was the highlight of our stay!

I think we were lucky to have Garry Hardy as our guide. Having been born and bred in Memphis he was so knowledgeable, entertaining and enthusiastic about his subject. He is also a very accomplished singer and guitar player and entertained us throughout the tour. A bus ride has never been such fun! The guide at Sun Studios was also brilliant and the tour was fascinating. In the evening (Sunday) we returned to the cafe where the tour started to listen to Garry some more and enjoyed the Ribs there.

Thank You! Carol Jillins

We loved this tour. Memphis Jones was awesome,, he provided great music and so much informative facts on the Blues Music roots of Memphis. He made the tour so enjoyable. I would recommend this tour to everyone who visits Memphis. It truly gives you the information to understand how Memphis is the home of the Blues. And you will have so much fun singing along with Memphis Jones. It is just a really good time !!

A musical history tour!!!

I'm an Elvis fan and have been several times in Memphis. Of course I have visited Graceland and have enjoyed the Sun studios. However, I have never visited the places in Memphis where Elvis lived and where his career started. A tour is not one of my favorite activities but I participated in a tour with Backbeat Tours.

Now I can say that this trip was the highlight of my visit in August 2011. The warming up in the bus was fantastic and from the beginning I was in a good mood. I never thought to play in a bus with a tambourine and a egg shaker singing along with songs from the past. The tour was a mix of facts, musical highlights (the guide was a wonderful singer!) and entertainment.

In short: a great happening that gives me again some extra memories of Elvis and Memphis!!!!!!!

The tour guide made the experience memorable. His guitar playing and knowledge was commendable. He had a friendly manner and we truly had value for money. Would recommend this tour highly.
