I loved this tour! We got to see so many different marine animals and creatures. The guide was extremely informative and patient with our lack of having kayaked before. If you are a beginner or an expert, this is a laid back, fun experience that everyone should have! I did not bring my children with me, but there were children in the group, and the guide did a great job with the kids. As long as children are old enough to help paddle the kayak, they can do this tour!

My wife and I took the morning Kayak trip through the Mangroves on October 19th. James was our guide and the trip was awesome. James is very knowledgeable and showed us all kinds of marine life and explained the eco system in great detail which was fascinating. We highly reccommend this trip for anyone.

My friend and I took the sunset and evening kayak tour last weekend, it was amazing. The sunset on the water was gorgeous. Kayaking around with the headlamps was very fun. Our guide Chad was a wealth of knowledge and was great about answering questions.

Amazing sea life /guides who get it

My wife and I spent our anniversary week in Key West at the Pier House and did quite a few things over the week - but this was absolutely the best thing we did. This is a no-frills operation. If you're looking for a booze cruise you'll be disappointed. But, if you want to cruise a kayak on pristine water and see amazing sea life both above and below the water, i highly recommend this group. We've done dozens of guided kayak tours all over the country, and this was the best we've ever done. i strongly recommend the sunset tour. Working through the hammock with a headlamp on is unlike almost anything i've ever done. Amazing. do it.

We really enjoyed our night on the water. James is extremely knowledgeable about marine life. He went out of his way to find new creatures for us to view. My favorite was the spotted sea hare! Check it out online...when he squeezed it, it released beautiful purple dye. I have never seen anything like it. It was all-around enjoyable.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our kayak tour. Our guide, Andy, was very knowledgeable about the mangroves and surrounding area. Although we did not see manatees we were excited to see a beautiful starfish, sea urchin, sponge and got a history lesson of the mangroves. This was a leisurely stroll on the water. We had a wonderful relaxing 2.5 hours on the water.

Unforgettable (though not especially romantic)

Our sunset kayak tour lasted about 4 hours from pickup to drop off. The company van arrived promptly on schedule at our hotel, and the van driver was pleasant and professional. Prior to launching our kayaks we were given a thorough (though not overly lengthy) pre-briefing covering the basics of kayaking, some safety issues and what we might expect to see on our tour. Everyone in the group had paddled before, so there were no "learning curve" issues. The equipment provided was in good shape. My wife and I had a tandem kayak, while the other four couples in our group had single kayaks. (So much for romance!) I suspect the company adds the "romantic" descriptor so that the guide doesn't have to chase kids through the mangroves in pitch darkness.

Once out paddling, the February evening was cool with a steady breeze, but since the waters were protected, the going was easy. Though the paddling was not strenuous, we found it to be good exercise. All told, we spent about 2 1/2 hours paddling. During the tour we saw an abundance of wildlife (birds and aquatic), including several species that I'd never seen before. Our guide was very knowledgable, had a good sense of humor, and encouraged questions and group participation. We felt that our time and money were well spent.

A Relaxing and Magical Experience

My husband and I took Blue Planet's Romantic Sunset and Moonlight Tour out of Key West. Chad, the owner of Blue Planet, was our guide. We headed out at 7:15 p.m., when the heat of the day was past. It was a small group which always makes for a better experience. We saw all sorts of wildlife before the sun went down: Ibis, Egrets, Osprey and Great Blue Herons to name a few. Gliding almost silently in our kayaks enabled us to get quite near the birds. We saw a wonderful sunset and then we put on our headlamps and glided through the red mangroves. It was magical. We saw crabs scurrying up the mangrove roots. Out in the bay, we saw the eyes of lobsters and shrimp glowing in the light from our headlamps. Chad was able to net several specimens of critters for us to look at before returning them to the water. We saw sea slugs, conch and sea urchins. We didn't even need insect repellent. We were very comfortable on the trip. This was in early June.

I would encourage people to try and stay up with the tour guide. We found it difficult to hear Chad as he is quite soft spoken. So it behooves you to stay close to him or you might miss out on some of the fascinating background he gives on the wildlife you will encounter. It might be a good idea for him to wear some kind of small microphone or voice amplifier around his neck so everyone can hear. Just a small suggestion.

This tour was wonderful and magical. We certainly got our money's worth. It was a very good value and we highly recommend it.
