If you have never kayaked but would like to, this adventure is for you. Before going out there is a containment area for practice. If you are afraid of being in deep water ... Chris does not take the tour to the ocean, and life preservers are standard equipment.

Our guide (Chris?) was pleasant and gave both kayaking and nature instruction / information. The experience was unhurried as we paddled through walking tree canopies and in the open water stopping at bird gatherings, for close up encounters with sea animals that Chris netted from the water and for rest breaks. Although remaining relatively close, we were not paddling in a pack which allowed for self explorations. Chris is also very open to taking pictures with your camera upon request.

À fantastic trip trough mangrove and flats that gave much joy and thoughts of how small man is on earth. Amazing guide and a well spent day!

Unique Activity in the Keys

The evening kayak trip was a unique activity in Key West. While the bars are nice and the other commercial sunset cruises are nice, this personal evening kayak tour was very good. The leader was knowledgeable about the creatures in the ocean and shared that with us. The trip through the red mangrove was unique and the evening made it exciting (and a fun spooky:)). To top it all off, the bioluminescence that was promised in the brochure really existed and was cool. Spend your money here with a local "mom and pop" shop and help the environment at the same time.

We were a 3 generational group of 6, ranging from 15 to 62 in age, with minimal kayaking experience. We had multiple activities that we engaged in while on this vacation, but our grandaughters pronounced this the highlight of the trip! Our guide was so informative and educational. Best parts were at night thru the mangrove creeks and the fireworks of the photoplankton. We would do this again in a heartbeat!

Upclose and full contact with FL nature

Chad's tour through some of the FL Key West mangroves provided an education of the area and afforded us to display how much we could/could not navigate through the mangroves in a tandem kayak. The tour and paddling was an excellent way to see some of the other water and fowl animals. The outting was terrific!!

Fantastic Voyage!

The brochure could not capture into words the experience on the water. Our guide, James, was both excellent at explaining our surroundings and navigation, as well as keeping all 11 of us safe.

To some, this kayaking trip may seem pedestrian, but it was quite a joyful experience to kayak through the mangroves and the bay. The sunset was fantastic, the nighttime kayaking was by far the best experience.

With the supplied head lamps. we were kayaking into the night and watching bioluminescent bacteria respond to our movements.

If you like nature you will love this tour. Our guide, Sara(h) was great at spotting critters for us to view and handle if it was safe for the critter and ourselves. Some of the critters we experienced was a huge horseshoe crab, spiny lobsters, the biggest hermit crab I have ever seen, a fighting conch, a queen conch, a sea cucumber, crabs in the mangrove trees, and the best was the octopus! I am sure there was more but I can't remember them all. As soon as it was dark enough we donned headlamps to see by. The water was amazingly clear. Just be sure you are fit enough to handle a long kayak tour.

My wife and I booked the evening kayak trip based on reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were very impressed!! This is a great opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the southern keys with an experienced, well educated guide who clearly takes pride in his work. Book this trip, you will not be disappointed!!

Better Than Hiring The Kayak And Doing Own Tour

We are glad we booked up the guided tour. The Guide James was really interesting and seemed to find all sorts of things which we would have not noticed if we had take out the Kayaks on there own.

We managed to get some really good photos and the time out on the water (2.5Hrs) was a good length of time in the heat.

We would both higlty recommend the tour, they even came out to our hotel, picked us up and dropped us off after.

Informative, fun, and peaceful. Recommended except for the odd juxtaposition in learning about this unique eco system and hearing the naval jet planes screeching overhead. But of course that's certainly not the responsiblity of Blue Planet. It would also be great if they could find a less industrial launching point. My kids loved it and I was happy with the knowledge and passion of the tour guide.

The trip was interesting, very pretty. but we just happened to pick the coldest week in about 10 years in the Keys to be on vacation. Oh well, still alot of fun. Chris, our guide, was very good.

We really enjoyed the sunset kayak tour with Chad. the timing was perfect and the ocean was calm. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and about the island. Relaxing and we would recommend this tour to anyone coming down to visit Key West.

We had Sara as our guide, and she was really knowledgeable about the ecology of the mangroves. She was able to find and show us many sea creatures, some of which we could hold! We went in the morning, and the water was clear so that we could see things on the bottom. We really enjoyed our trip.
