The trip was interesting, very pretty. but we just happened to pick the coldest week in about 10 years in the Keys to be on vacation. Oh well, still alot of fun. Chris, our guide, was very good.

We really enjoyed the sunset kayak tour with Chad. the timing was perfect and the ocean was calm. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and about the island. Relaxing and we would recommend this tour to anyone coming down to visit Key West.

We had Sara as our guide, and she was really knowledgeable about the ecology of the mangroves. She was able to find and show us many sea creatures, some of which we could hold! We went in the morning, and the water was clear so that we could see things on the bottom. We really enjoyed our trip.

Chad our guide was very knowledgeable and gave many interesting facts about the wildlife and vegetation.

Going through the mangroves in the light and after dark was really cool!

not what I expected

This was the third time I have gone with this provider from this location. My first 2 trips were each with a different guide. This guide wasvery likeable and very knowledgeable about the marine life, birds, and things we saw. He was able to spot and net for people to see a star fish, conch, sea squirt, and sea slug. In the previous trips with different guides we traveled a much larger area in the same time span. We zigged and zagged around through many mangrove passageways--we did 2 maybe 3 this trip. We seemed to spend most of the time meandering in the same area. It was a very calm day so wind was not a factor. I am 64 yrs. old and was not looking for a race around the channels but did expect to cover more territory and explore more mangroves as we had done before.

We had a fantastic experience in the kayak tour. This was the first time that I was kayaking but it wasn't hard to learn to paddle. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. He took us through the mangroves and the back water (shallow) area and showed us all sorts of marine plants and animals. It was an awesome experience to see those creatures in their natural habitat, plus the information provided by the tour guide made it even more satisfying. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

One advise would be wear sun screen and carry things to eat/drink during the kayak tour because it can get tiring.

on a winter windy day ....

Although it was a very VERY windy day in winter, the experience is still nice.

It was hard work (a first time kayaker) crossing the channel to get to the mangroves.

Inside the mangrove, it was real peaceful and quiet.

What a stark contrast with the outside world.

I wish we could stay longer and enjoy the peace.

The guide is great and we saw conch, urchin, sea star, birds, and lots of sea grass.

Best of all, we can see the fighter jets take off/land and doing all kinds of maneuvers because we're right across the naval air station.

By the way, don't forget to pack some muscle pain relief cream or pill ....

Relaxing and interesting trip through nature

We were lucky to have a sunny; even though somewhat breezy day for our trip. We had Chris as our guide and he was able to find some snails urchins and starfish as well as point out the local birds and fish during our trip. We were not fortunate enough to see rays or the sharks in the wild but the paddle through the mangroves and the shallow waters at the Keys was a special experience for some Canadians that simply do not get this opportunity. It was a great day of paddling and Chris was knowledgeable enough to make it interesting.

Wonderful time despite no sunset or stars!

Katie, our guide was great! The weather was unseasonably cool, it was cloudy and there was a consistent wind. But even with the weather as it was, we could not have had a more enjoyable excursion. The kayak was easy to maneuver and very stable. We were pretty much novices to kayaking, but took to it right away. Be prepared to get a little wet from the paddles, but you get used to it. We paddled over to the mangroves and actually went inside. Katie was good with her instruction and clear about what we were doing. She enthusiasticaly found all sorts of sea creatures that she netted out of the water and let us handle and explore, and she was a great source of information about the environment. Blue Planet was easy to deal with and friendly. We will definitely kayak again, and if you are going to be in Key West, definitely book with Blue Planet.

My wife and I were pleased to be able to go kayaking as it's something we enjoy doing together. We were fascinated with the introduction to kayaking among the trees and being shown such a variety of sea creatures. We felt very special as we were the only ones in the afternoon tour and we were able to get close to everything our guide had to show us. We would recommend it.
