Had such a good time! Our guide was very knowledgable. I don't swim well, but had no fear. The water was shallow. Easy paddling and saw lots of specimens from the ocean!!

Fantastic & Memorable Experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our kayak tour! Very informative, & we saw SO much marine life! This may not happen every trip I'm sure but we got lucky and saw: a manatee, tree frogs, live conch, a sting ray, a nurse shark, sea anemones, sponges, fish of all kinds, spiny sea urchin, and an octopus! It was great because our guide told us all about the animals, as well as the natural history of the area. If you want a small group experience that's representative of the real Key West, this is your ticket! Blue Planet is top notch!

We own two rental properties in KW. For the last five years, we are down with our two kids. A friend suggested we do this tour. We decided to book the tour for our last evening in KW. What a fabulous way to end the trip!

We will be recommending this to all of our renters.

Thanks for an enjoyable evening!

Fantastic trip!

Our whole family LOVED our fantastic guided kayak tour. The highlight of the trip was seeing (and gently holding) some of the marine creatures that live in the waters. We enjoyed traveling through the mangrove formations, and our guide Sara told us interesting facts along the way. I especially enjoyed the beautiful color of the water. Our kayaks were comfortable and were easy to maneuver. This trip really made my vacation memorable, and I hope to come back soon.

Great conditions

We were lucky to have wonderful conditions for our moonlight kayak tour. The air and waters were calm and we had clear skies for sunset viewing. We were able to view sea creatures during our tour thanks to the eagle eyes of our guide, Kate. Our son even saw a Bonnethead Shark. Our family (Mom, Dad, 18yo daughter, 20 yo son) were joined by another group of tourists. Unfortunately, the other group made the tour a bit more difficult than it should have. They were loud, and they kept running into each other and us in our kayaks. For a tour where you want to commune with nature, loudness is not very desirable. We did enjoy it very much even with that problem.

A Perfect Balance To The Hustle and Bustle

This was our fourth trip to Key West and we were looking for an alternative to the Mallory Square sunset ritual. Our kayak tour was just the thing. It was a small, enthusiastic group of people and our guide, Katie was friendly and knowledgable. We got to see/touch/learn about all kinds of Key West marine life. All in all a great experience. We'll definitely do it again!

A beautiful water excursion!

This kayaking trip was a peaceful way of exploring the ocean eco-system of Key West. I loved seeing the roosting area at dusk for the local birds, while continuing into night fall, observing the fascinating incubator and it's inhabitants. The grasses and mangroves provide a haven for the most interesting creatures in plant life , sea creatures, and even delicate little fire flies. I loved this trip because it is such a refreshing diversion from usual tourist activities. I strongly recommend this activity for young or old.

Fun kayak trip!

We booked the sunset kayak trip because it was something different and we really enjoyed it. One thing that made the trip fun was that it was at low tide so it was easier to see things in the water and for the guide to find critters to show. Because the moon wasn't too bright we were able to see the bioluminescence, which was really neat.

When we first met our guide James, I was a bit turned off my his abrupt (and I thought a bit rude) attitude but he did a good job during the trip so in the end it was fine.

You can either be picked up in the van or meet the van and follow them to the launch site. The van was really late maybe because they had to pick up a lot of people and it was ok to follow them because we were the only car but I could see if you had a lot of cars it would be easy to lose people. Seems like there has got to be a better meeting place closer to the launch site. The best thing about having the car is that you can just leave after and don't have to wait for everyone.

After dark kayaking a new & exciting experience
Wed, Feb 19, 14   5:30 PM Suebrain Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Individual
The after dark kayaking was a new and exciting experience for me, and one I would recommend for sure.

Blue Planet offered hotel pick up which I took advantage of, their location is quite a distance from downtown Key West. The dock area we launched from was very small, it took a while to get 10 of us in kayaks and on the water. Once we got paddling, our tour guide Jamie showed us many "sea creatures" , with care and expertise. We watched the sun set, then put on our head lamps and paddled easily across the bay. The manouvering thru the mangroves was a fun challenge. To me, the bioluminescent bacteria that light up like fireflies was the highlight, very cool!

Definitely something a little different to do in Key West, away from the crowds on Duval and a chance to learn and appreciate nature's show.

A great day with nature

Our guide, Sarah, was great. We were in a group with families with children and a grandparent. The excursion was appropriate for everyone. Sarah explained the wildlife that we saw and made it as hands on as possible. As jet skiers flew by we agreed that what we were doing was much more fun and interesting.

Our morning kayak tour was a great experience. We got to hold a conch, star fish, sea cucumber, and other living creatures from the sea while kayaking through and around mangroves. The guide was very educated on the wildlife and did a great job leading us. We even got to see a sting ray jump out of the water twice! We would definitely consider another kayak tour with Blue Planet if we get back to Key West.

Nature sets an awesome stage for this kayaking trip but our guide made it truly an exceptional experience. So very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the majestic creatures that call these blue waters home...just do it!

Fun, calm-water kayak trip
Sun, Feb 16, 14   10:30 AM sueb13 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Fun, calm water kayak trip with guide knowledgeable about local waters and marine life. Suitable for novice kayakers. That day the navy jets were training around Boca Chica lagoon, which made for a noisy trip... not my favorite thing, although others on my trip rather enjoyed it.

A Beautiful Experience!
Wed, Feb 12, 14   5:30 PM Clippership Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We had a great time. The experience of night falling as you are out on the water, among the mangroves, is mysterious, beautiful, spiritual, unforgettable. Our guide, Chad, offered a great balance of teaching, humour, friendliness and, from time to time, silence to allow us to drink in the sounds. We did not see a ton of wildlife (it was dark! also the tide was high) but that didn't matter at all, the simple sensation of gliding along in the night in a safe, guided situation was worth everything to us. Thank you!
