This was the highlight to our time in Key West. Our guide was very knowledgeable - She introduced us to the underwater world of the Mangrove forests, and we came away with a greater appreciation of it's spendor.

Went on this outing with adult children and their spouses. All thought was highlight of their trip to Key West. Some physical strength and endurance required. Learning about the mangroves was fun. Leader was knowledgeable.

not exactly what was promised but still cool

The kayak they gave me was way too big for me, and they had smaller ones available. We never made it into the mangroves but just went around the island. Still saw cool stuff though. Also the guide kept us out late which would have been ok if my kayak was more manageable.

Blue Planet Kayak Tours responded:
First let me thank you for going out with us and we are pleased you found the marine life cool. It is true some of our kayaks are slightly larger than others as they are designed for stability. This is beneficial for fishing or larger customers our apology for not putting you in a smaller kayak. The reason we did not go into the mangroves is we couldn't. Very low tides prevented the guide from access to the creeks except for one which he by passed due to time constraints. The low tide helped him find the cool animals on the flats and his pursuit of these led him to run a little over time.

Had a great time on the kayak tour. Saw a variety of marine life from cow fish to giant starfish to a various crabs and enormous sponges. Our guide was very knowledgeable and intent on us having a good time. He chased down a baby nurse shark and my girlfriend got to hold it...I was on camera duty. Overall had a fantastic time and highly recommend it.

I wish we had seen more wildlife. It was a bit more strenuous than I had thought it would be.

Blue Planet Kayak Tours responded:
It is unfortunate you did not see as much wildlife as hoped for. Conditions such as tide cycle and wind play a singificant role in encountering mobile animals such as fish and birds. Despite protection from the wind provided by the mangroves customers are committing to a 2.5 hr. paddle.

On windy days exposed shallow areas do require more effort and customers should be aware of this. Glad despite these comments your overall experience was positive.

Upclose and full contact with FL nature

Chad's tour through some of the FL Key West mangroves provided an education of the area and afforded us to display how much we could/could not navigate through the mangroves in a tandem kayak. The tour and paddling was an excellent way to see some of the other water and fowl animals. The outting was terrific!!

Great experience for first time kayaking

Pace was nice and easy with lots of rests while the guide passed specimens around for the group to see/photograph. Guide was very informative. Small group added to the pleasure of this trip. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw starfish, jellyfish, a nurse shark, tree crabs, a living sponge, and a medium size univalve live shellfish, and a couple shore birds and lots of seagrass

Truly enjoyed kayaking through the mangrove trees

good trip leader a must

We took this eco- tour in 2014 and loved it. Our 2014 trip leader was very informative, friendly and knew the marine life and eco-systems. However, our 2015 kayaking trip was totally different. The trip leader had us just paddle around the mangroves. If we had questions, he would reluctantly answer them and only very briefly. The only good thing in 2015 was the nice weather.

Our guide was great and we spent several hours meandering around the shallow waters around Key West and in and out of mangrove forests. Not to miss if you are into a peaceful experience with lots of interesting wildlife and plant information!

Unique kayak tour

We really enjoyed our night on the water. James is extremely knowledgeable about marine life. He went out of his way to find new creatures for us to view. My favorite was the spotted sea hare! Check it out online...when he squeezed it, it released beautiful purple dye. I have never seen anything like it. It was all-around enjoyable.

Our guide was very knowledgeable...and did his best to show us as much as he could. The kayaking wasn't strenuous for us, and the trips through the mangrove 'tunnels' were exceptionally interesting
