Great tour

Great, informative walk around Boston. I was the only person on the tour in the end as there were a couple of no shows, so great personal service! A great way to get your bearings around the city and hear some history, see the sights etc.

Great Valentine's Day Experience

We really enjoyed our experience on our walking tour of Boston. We came as two couples for a different experience on Valentine's Day. As locals of Boston, I was impressed with the unique information Alan shared. It was just the right blend of walking and relevant attractions. The tour was just the right length, and hit unique landmarks, architecture, and the residential area of Beacon Hill. I would recommend this to locals looking for a different perspective of Boston or for those visiting for a succinct but detailed overview of the city.

We brought a UK school group of 23 6th Form students (age 16-17) on a trip to New York and Boston. Alan gave us a great tour of the city and had loads of interesting information about the history of Boston and all the landmarks we visited, which was just as interesting to the students as it was to the staff. We will definitely book him again if we come back to Boston with another group.

Shaloam and you do not have to be Jewish to enjoy

HI,

Alan did a great job leading us and informing us of the cultural aspects of Boston with specific insights on the Jewish heritage. We had recently been in Poland and went to the concentration camps there. We are not Jewish, and we felt it would be important to follow-up on this tour of Boston with an opportunity to understand the Jewish culture and heritage in Boston. Alan did a terrific job of explaining, but since we had such a small group (Winter 204/15) he diversified the tour to meet our interests. The two hours passed quickly, so give Alan a hand.

Architecture

We have enjoyed architectural walks in many cities in Europe, Australia, and the USA. Alan's tour was at the pace we wanted to take and questions and stops were welcomed. Alan understands the history as well as the architectural aspects of the buildings and sights he pointed out. I would welcome another tour guided by Alan.

Really Nice Jewish Cultural Walk

This was a most pleasant afternoon. I am on our synagogue's Adult Education committee and thought this would be a bit different than the sit and study type of thing. It was. Our tour guide was full of useful and enjoyable information and was easily heard by all. The only drawback was no one's fault; there just isn't a lot of true Jewish history in the downtown Boston area because there were not a lot of Jews there to begin with. However I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone.

Jewish Heritage NEW info even for Bostonians

Great tour with lots of information and interesting sites. Took a group of Jewish Bostonians who found it very interesting. While the tour is not designed for people in wheelchairs, we took two with 90 year olds. The guide was patient and we all did the full tour. Some steps and hills but we negotiated it all and it was very enjoyable.

In rained heavily throughout the tour but it remained interesting with excellent detail and looking at buildings and architecture that we would have otherwise unknowingly walked past. Recommend if you don't know much about Boston.

I did the walk with my dad and even though it was rainy and cold the tour was wonderful. The guide was engaging and my dad, who is a history buff, loved the tour.

Highly recommend this tour by Boston CityWalks. Tour guide Alan was very knowledgeable and knew all the details about the 18th century background to many of the sites and all the players that made the city famous, through to the current day aspects, such as the building used for the Boston Legal TV façade. Revere, Hancock, JFK sites all pointed out. Only aspect I'd suggest change on is allowing a couple of minutes to directly walk past the homes John Kerry and JFK live and lived in, rather than point to them from a block away (I imagine the guide was hoping to preserve some privacy). There are several tour options for Boston but doing it on foot allowed you to go to the backstreets that the buses didn't reach.
