Tour was informative, my opinion this was more of an educational history tour of the old jail than it was a scary or haunted tour. Worth seeing as this old jail has some history but do to expect to be scared by any means

I had taken this tour about 5 years ago and loved it. This time it seemed much shorter, with a lot less of the building covered. The guide was good and had good stories but it seemed that she was talking to fill the time in a few instances.

Also, we did not know that we had to walk ourselves from the office to the Jail, so ended up missing our time by 5 minutes, forcing us to wait 20 minutes for the next tour. The walking time needs to be emphasized!

As much as we liked our guide, Sean, the tour was just a series of moving from room to room and hearing about the jail times. There should have been more authentic items, photos anything they could add and enhance the theme as all I really noticed were the 'electric' light switches of modern times and signs from the college since they utilize this space. Just not authentic enough for me.

Sean our guide was a great story teller of the history of the jail. Although nothing spooky happened to me personally, just hearing the stories of the jail house was worth it. I really enjoyed the tour and captured a "spirit" in my pictures.

My son had an encounter on the third floor, quite suddenly he, got extremely dizzy, and sick to his stomache...he actually had to leave the tour as he felt he was going to pass out. He said as soon as he left the grounds, he felt better, but still threw up. He came on the tour because I wanted to go...he was a total non believer in the paranormal prior to this visit. He states he will never go back to the jail...very bad karma. He said he has never felt anything like that before in his life and never wants to again. He is no child..he's 36 years old. He was fine the rest of the night

We were a

Little nervous about taking out 12 year old nephew so we scheduled the tour with daylight in mind. Pauletta was

Professional and knowledgeable about the jail and it's haunting events. She was fun and answered questions easily. It was an inviting tour in spite of the ghost tales. I would recommend this for those who do not want to spend 1.5 hours on a tour yet want to delve into some of Charlestons historical/scary past.
