interesting tour with a mix of historical information and ghost stories. The later tours when it's dark is recommended to get the full experience!

The tour was amazing. We were provided with a lot of history that helped make the experience better than expected. Our guide, Sean, gave us some personal experiences that added to the "creepy" factor. I definitely recommend that everyone to take a tour of this beautiful place!

My kids (ages 19 and 14) and I did this tour for our first time and loved it. The history of the jail is just tremendous. Our interest in the historical aspect of the jail was so piqued that we wanted to do more research on the history of events that happened there. The paranormal side ( not my usual thing) was interesting and spooky. The guide was great and knowledgeable. My teenagers were really hyped up and wanted to start planning a return trip. :)

Great stories, awesome architecture, and spooky!

Our tour guide was very enthusiastic, told the stories in their truest form so we got factual information, and even gave us a good scare at the end. The building was seriously spooky during the 9:00 pm tour. If you want to see architecture, some may say to go while it's still light outside but I saw everything just fine. Going at night makes it creepier and so much fun. I would reccoomend to anyone. If going in the summer, bring water!! It gets hot inside the jail.

Informative and fun

My family and I were looking forward to this event for both the historical and paranormal aspects. Our tour guide Glenn was great with his storytelling and the details he brought up. Although nothing too out of the ordinary happened we still enjoyed ourselves. There is one complaint which may be hard to control and that was some of the people who were also touring with us. A group of young females showed up barley on time and throughout the tour they were talking to each other and texting on their brightly iluminated iPhones. It was disrespectful to the rest of us on the tour who were trying to listen to Glenn and capture any evidence on our own cameras. I would still recommend the tour to others and my family would definitely visit the jail again but hopefully with more respectful individuals or perhaps a more intimate, private tour.

They tell you to arrive an 45 minutes-to an hour early. We did. At the office. Then we had to walk 10-15 minutes in the summer humid hot air to the jail. Once at the jail, the lady checks us in and says there is no more room at in the 8:30 tour (no shit, I booked the 9:00pm). So now we wait in the heat for 40 minutes. Tour gets going. There are 20 people in this tour. Holy smokes. We go into 4 rooms. Nothing interesting at all. We leave. The end. That was it!? Four rooms. $2 bottles of water. We will never do it again. It's not haunted. Not worth the money or the walking or the heat. The tour guide was nice. But that was about it. Ghost Adventures made it look way cooler and more intense. I wouldn't recommend it.

Interesting info on a dark history

Tour was very interesting. Sean did a great job of telling the tales of what occurred at the jail. The stories were both interesting and very sad. It was a worthwhile tour to learn the dark side of Charleston history.
