This tour exceeded my expectations!

So enjoyable and full of all things worth knowing about Annapolis was our tour guide, Carolyn that I would like to repeat this tour with every relative or friend who comes to visit with me. What a wonderful way to tour Annapolis! As, a teetotaler (and there were a few of us), what little I gave up took nothing valuable away from my experience. For the cost of my ticket I was provided me with the perfect day: Wonderful food, riveting historical facts, a pleasant amount of fresh air and walking, and good people with whom to enjoy the experience. I hope this company expands (as they so richly deserve to do) so they will someday be able to include tours on the weekdays. I have always had a fairly good time visiting Annapolis. But never, ever, before have had I enjoyed it this much! In addition to retaking this tour, I would very much like to also take their tours of Washington D.C. and Baltimore whenever I want to take someone to lunch in an extra special way.

Lots of history

The tour would be better if done later in the afternoon, e.g. 3pm. It would have been nice if the owner of the Italian restaurant was available to talk to the group. The Middletown Tavern was a disappointment. We were rushed in & out, the room was hot, & there should have been an alternative for the oyster shooter. Otherwise, the restaurants were fine. The tour guide walked very fast, usually way ahead of the group. It would have been nice if she walked with different members of the group as we went from restaurant to restaurant.

Our guide Carolyn was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and fun! The food was surprisingly high quality, much better than we were expecting. A great way to see Annapolis!

I'm a sucker for walking tours and have been on several food tours in the US and Europe. This was my least favorite to date. The guide was very nice and did a great job putting everyone at ease, but the historical discussion was disjointed and not nearly as interesting or colorful as other historical walking tours I've been on, including an architectural tour of Annapolis. The organizers neglected to call ahead to one of the restaurants, so when we arrived the food had not been prepared and the chef refused to serve us--very bad form for a food tour. Also, the portions were the smallest that I have encountered to date on a food/walking tour.

This was a great tour with loads of seafood and wonderful local Annapolis cuisine. I learned some interesting facts about the city and made some friends along the way. I would reccomend this tour with out a doubt. Thanks Jillian for a great tour!

Too much info about colonial times, which was not specific to Annapolis or the local restaurants. It was obvious the tour guide had another job giving colonial tours. As a result, the local aspects and the actual tasting was rushed.

Great tour but not for kids

We enjoyed the history interwoven with the food tasting portion of the tour. There was a variety of different foods symbolizing the town of Annapolis. Everyone was friendly and informative. BIG DRAWBACK! I would not bring children unless you are prepared for inappropriate language and sexual innuendos during the guide's speech. They give different "saying/toasts" during the walk that contain swear words and sexual references are made throughout the tour. We were disappointed in that aspect as we have been on many food and history tours as a family and have not encountered that issue. At the very least, there should be some reference to the content of the tour by the website of Capital City Colonials to allow parents to make the judgment call.

Top Notch - One of our favorite food tours!

My husband and I took this food tour last year when we visited Annapolis. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to try it again this summer. We were not disappointed. New places to sample culinary delights were added to change things up. Susan, our guide, is so knowledgeable and just as awesome this time around as she was last year. She fits everyone with an earpiece and individual receiver at the beginning of the tour, so you can hear everything she talks about as the group moves along. We didn't miss a thing.

Highlights of the food samples were the tomato gazpacho soup, crab cakes, the ice cream and the popovers. The B&B house was unbelievable. We really enjoyed touring the city and learning about the history of the area. We will surely go back again.

Highly recommend to others. The quality of the tour was largely due to our guide, who was top-notch and courteous, not a dull moment on the entire tour. My wife and myself (form PA) were joined by another couple (from GA) and our guide (5 total in group). Did not feel rushed at any time on the tour. Immediately impressed with warm reception by guide at meeting place, the audio receiver and earpiece provided (necessity when walking thru town), courtesy bottled water and coffee. Tour office surervisor checked two times to make sure everyone was satisfied. Each destination was ready for our arrival and all involved were very friendly and open to questions. Food / drink samples at various eating establishments were great. We returned to Irish restaurant across from State House for lunch following day. Will return to restaurant at Maryland Inn again in future for popovers. Two suggestions for improvement: 1) Provide larger bag at beginning of tour to hold bottled water and misc. trinkets provided by restuarants along the tour; and, 2) add color coded depiction of historic landmark plaques on map handout with key / legend to show time period. In the words of our guide, Marco, all of the above Tis True, Tis True!
