The carriage tour was my least favorite. We were in the back and didn't hear most of what was said. Unless you are really a history buff, this will be boring and very hot. Tbe harbour tour was awesome. Great lunch and air conditioned. Very smooth boat ride. The shopping was cheezy cheap souvenirs. The plantation tour was fun but, we only got to see 3 rooms of the 25 room house. Unfortunately Charleston smells like horse manure due to the number of horse drawn carriage rides. I'm sure there are awesome parts of the city but what we saw was dirty and smelly. The bus ride was great and very comfortable. Our driver was very knowledgable.

We were not happy with this tour, at all. We certainly don't feel like it's worth the cost. Your website states that there will be shopping time at the marketplace, depending on schedule. That comprised of having 12 minutes for our walk back to the bus after our wagon ride. Your website shows and states a 'carriage' ride but we were on a 16 passenger wagon pulled by mules. The wagons were approximately 20 minutes late, too. The lunch and boat ride were lame, very unappealing. Our time at the plantation was disappointing, also. They told us it was a 25 room house, but we only saw 3 1/2 rooms. Two+ hours there was a waste of time. Maybe allowing a 1/2 hr. for shopping time at the marketplace and less time at the plantation would be more appealing. Most everyone on the bus felt this way. So, over-all most of the people we spoke with seemed to feel the same as we do.
Charleston Adventures responded:
Thank your for taking our Charleston Adventures trip and for taking the time to give us your feedback. We take reviews very seriously and work to continuously improve our tour. It seems like you were more interested in shopping than actually touring Charleston. As you can see from our many reviews of this trip and our harbor tour, this is one of the best rated activities in Charleston and we have many happy customers. The harbor tour covers over 75 points of interest and Charleston is a peninsula surrounded by water, so this is a great way to get a feel for the City and understand how it was founded. These are carriage rides, and exactly what we advertise. Not a "wagon." The carriages have to adhere to a strict schedule mandated by the City of Charleston and the animals have to wait a certain amount of time before they can leave the barn, etc... Mules are bred for this type of work, making them the best fit for the carriage tours. As for Boone Hall, you tour the 1st floor of the mansion as the owner lives on the top floor. There are many great features at Boone Hall, such as the gardens, the slave cabins featuring the Black History in America Exhibit, The Butterfly Pavilion and the famous Avenue of Oaks. You can also take the tram tour. We apologize that you did not enjoy the trip, but we do not advertise this as a shopping trip, but an overview of Charleston so that you can decide what you may want to come back and take advantage of in our wonderful city.
