Terrific Tour!

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed this tour. I've been a fan of Sharon Tate for awhile now, and just to see all these places brought to life was fascinating....I couldn't have loved it more. I was with my sister, who liked it as well; she hadn't really known anything about the case, and it made her really interested in it. It's well worth the money---Scott (our guide, yay!) was so knowledgeable & really has a passion for the subject. Very, very interesting, I love the film clips & songs he plays as you go along. He certainly does know every last thing: from seeing the Tate house, to where Abigail Folger and Voyteck had a house, to the LaBianca's residence, even Jack Jones' old house where the Manson "Family" creepy-crawled----fascinating stuff, all. I wish the tour would go inside the El Coyote for a group lunch, that would be a fantastic grand finale! I waited so long for this day to get here, and being from Minnesota, you have to plan these things out. I whole-heartedly loved everything, it was amazing just being in those same locations, like I said. Two thumbs up for this one for a very good time!!!!

I booked my Helter Skelter tour 2 days prior to the actual date. I got in no problem along with my wife. Altogether, there was 13 of us in the group. More than half of that group were my brother and his family (including 3 children) and a couple of cousins. I found this tour to be very interesting and educational. I am pretty familiar with the Helter Skelter murders, but had no awareness of all the intricacies, and levels of relationships associated with the murders. Our tour guide did an excellent job of explaining details, and was very accommodating to our group. All in all, for $50 I feel like the tour is worth it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest for the Helter Skelter murders.

with the video and the tour guide and the music of the day playing the tour felt like a time warp to me. it also really put into perspective the whole manson story and that crazy summer, to see where all the locations were in relation to each other. very interesting.

This tour is awesome! Met some great people and Scott is so informative! I didn't want to get off the bus!

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in the "Manson" Murders.

And on a personal note, I would like to thank Scott for holding the tour on Thursday to accomodate my friends and I as I was not in LA on the normal tour days. Your kindness is very appreciated and your tour was one I will always remember! Thanks again!

Very interesting. Even though the Tate house has been demolished there are still other sites too see. Scott is extremely knowledgeable about the crimes and the background and aftermath to them, but he invites discussion too. One tip: If you get car sick easily, consider taking a travel sickness pill - a few parts of the tour are on windy canyon roads.

Not having much of a background on the Manson murders, I was looking for a timeline and facts on what happened. Our guide was great- a great mix of entertaining and factual.

I'm not usually a tour person, but this isn't your garden variety tour. Scott showed us all the major sites relative to the Tate-Labianca killings, and some more obscure ones like Tex Watson's hose and was able to answer all questions posed. This tour is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in the Tate LaBianca homicides. I would have gladly paid twice what I did for this tour.

From someone ambivalent about the respectfulness

It was sort of hard for me to make the decision to take this tour because I wasn't sure if it was respectful to the dead. Also I was afraid other people on the tour would be Manson admirers. But in the end I'm glad I went. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that I think people who are very sensitive should be cautious when choosing this tour.

It affected me differently than I thought it would. I knew I would be emotional when seeing some of the sites, especially the murder houses. But my reaction was way past what I thought it would be. The hardest part for me was when we pulled up across the street from the LaBianca house. If you’ve read or seen a lot about this case, it just smacks you in the face to be right there, looking at it. I was shaking and crying. I’m shaking as I write this. We were lucky to have no Manson admirers on the tour, but what if there had been someone like that?? I may have ended up in a fist fight.

I thought of leaving the tour when we took a break halfway through. I was afraid of seeing the Tate house. That site actually didn’t affect me as much, though, because you are not as close to it when you view it. Also it’s not the same home, so all the pictures you’ve seen are not popping into your head.

I am grateful to our guide for having absolutely no fear and taking the bus into difficult to navigate streets, where some people hate him and hate the tour. I was very nervous about people coming out to yell at us or worse, because I wasn’t even sure if I should be there (no haters appeared). I think I’m still not sure if it’s too disrespectful to the dead. The reason I’m glad I went is because it’s the only way to really, well, get smacked in the face by it. To realize that all that stuff you’ve read about did go down. It’s not just a horror story – these were real people. So in a way I feel like I do have respect for the dead, because I wanted to see them as people and not just crime scene photos. Also $5 of each ticket is given to the Tate family’s foundation.
