My family and I came out from the Inland Empire...I must say a trip well spent!! I cannot believe places that I have driven by or been too in the past in Hollywood there is soooo much history behind and around it!! Our Driver Richard was very nice and friendly..he was willing to give us additional info. The handouts and audio gave the Tour a more "Real" vibe. I will definitely do this Tour again....!! Thanks again!!

Tour guide (Richard) was very pleasant and had a lot of interesting information to share. He had a great sense of humor and made the 3 hours very fun and seem like no time at all. He also handled driving in busy Los Angeles traffic with ease and made me feel safe. As we are local, we are interested in taking more tours with this company and recommend this tour to all those interested in Hollywood history.

Good Tour for Locals and Visitors

It's always nice to have a theme when you get on a bus for a city tour. As the places you see are accompanied with stories, things start to get much more interesting. This is a tour where the creators have really done their research. More importantly, they do a great job of keeping the tour updated with the most recent developments in Hollywood history. You can actually get to see all the celebrity homes they point out to you rather than merely their security gates, parking garages, or trees. A lot is covered, from Beverly Hills to Sunset Strip, from Hollywood to Los Feliz and Silverlake. The tragedies will make you feel sad but your tour guide will not let your sadness get deeper as another sight will be coming up pretty soon. Richard was the guide in my tour and he does a perfect job.

Exceedingly enjoyable tour

We had an opportunity to take the Dearly Departed tour recently, and we would heartily recommend it to anyone with an interest in the dark and strange side of Hollywood.

We were running late (traffic) and the staff were nice enough to call us back, and even suggest easy parking locations. The tour was wonderful, and the guide (Brian) was both exceedingly knowledgeable, and quite skilled at getting the 12-passenger bus around the challenging streets of town. We found that his enthusiasm for the topic was infectious, no matter your level of knowledge in the celebrity world.

In short, we had an excellent time, and I would whole-heartedly recommend it for anyone who has a fondness for the weird, bizarre, and grim.

I really appreciated how they filled in moments between our destinations with other interesting tidbits. They really used the whole time. And even though the tour was intended to be a darker look at L.A., which it was, they still managed to keep things from being too heavy. It was really fun!

A Wonderful LA Experience with Lots to Enjoy

Our tour guide/driver was entertaining with lots of Hollywood trivia. The whole tour passed way too quickly! The use of our guide's dialogue, taped information and music and photos relating to what we were seeing made this a rich and informative tour. Even just the drive around these areas in LA would be worth the price as it went so smoothly and we got to see neighborhoods to return to and explore on foot later on. Highly recommend these professionals over some of the 'open bus' mass marketed tours.

This tour wouldn't have been half as much fun with out the wonderful tour guide. He was as entertaining as the city itself. I have already recommended the tour to several people and left a recommendation with the hotel we were staying at to recommend people your way. You haven't done LA until you have done the Dearly Departed Tour.

A great look at the darker side of hollywood

This tour was an excellent tour of the darker side of Hollywood as well as sites of Hollywood attractions that you receive in other tours. The tour guide knows a lot about Hollywood's history even where historic buildings that have been torn down once stood. I highly recommend this tour. I went on another tour but can say that I enjoyed this tour a lot more. The tour was well organized and Scott knows his stuff and unlike other tours can answer questions you may have.

A thrilling experience!

My husband Rob and I went to Hollywood to celebrate my 40th birthday. We signed up for the Hollywood Movie Tours and Tragic History Tour and LOVED both. As I said in my other review I wish I could have taken the Charles Manson one too having read Helter Skelter as a teen. Maybe next time!

What can I say? I was excited to have Scott as our tour guide as we own the Charles Manson DVD and thought he did an excellent job of this and knew he would not disappoint! What a personable, friendly guy he is! We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him and the other tourists and there was never a dull moment. So much to see and you will LOVE it if you are a movie buff. A handout was given at the end with a list of all the movie locations we saw that day. I am going to have to rent them all one by one LOL. You have to take this tour, Dearly Departed Tours are awesome! Love you guys!

Loved this tour!

My husband and I took this tour in March 2010 and it exceeded our expectations. I had read about it on the California page and immediately signed us up! What a fascinating tour. I have always been interested in true crime and things that go bump in the night so this was definately up my alley LOL. Richard certainly knew his facts and provided a very interesting and entertaining tour for us complete with a binder for us to view and handouts.

The air conditioned van was very comfortable, and excellent for taking pictures and we took lots! We also signed up for the Hollywood Movie Tour (I will do a seperate review on that, loved it too) but was bummed that the Charles Manson tour was not offered during our stay in Hollywood. Ah well we bought the DVD instead but maybe next time!

Love you guys, you did an amazing job and I will be sure to tell all my friends about Dearly Departed Tours :-)
