Caught nothing ....not much crew help

We were given rental poles in the office that were a problem for the boys to use. Open spinners...they tangled constantly...The captain came down and saw them tangled once and said to the boys "Why the hell did you rent these polls if you don't know how to use them."

We used live bait that was say too big to catch anything. The only ones catching fish were using their own tackle. I would have purchased lures in the shop if someone had advised me to do it.

On the boat we were given instruction by the other fisherman not the crew.

After a snag once my son's line snapped and the crew member helping him walked away....so my son then had to run him down to replace his tackle.

At first we were yelled instructions to fish on the top above the kelp...and then later we were told to fish down deeper...without any instruction or help changing tackle.

Crew was friendly just unhelpful.

Galley was fine...good food pretty good service.

Three of us caught nothing.

Outstanding trip with a great crew

The captain and crew did a great job finding the right spots and making the time enjoyable for everyone. When the fishing got hot, the crew was as attentive as when the fishing slowed down. I recommend Dana Wharf Fishing!

I went with my sister inlaw we had a nice time everyone was real helpfull. The only thing I didn't care for was one crew member smoked and one passinger always seemed to have a cigerette in her mouth. Have no smoking trips!

Reel Fun Was Not Fun

Went out on the Clemente in past years and actually caught a few fish each time. Ther Clemente captain always kept a close eye on the action and even interacted with the passengers.

Our captain Dan on the Reel Fun stayed out of sight and not only didn't find any fish, (40 rods x 4 hours = only 5 keepers) I was surprised he could even find the Pacific Ocean.

Besides the wasted time the trip cost my wife and I over $120.00 with the non residence 1 day license and all we came home with was a sun burn. To have the boat sit in 1 (very dead) spot for over an hour with no one catching anything or even getting a nibble before moving to try another spot was absolutely rediculous. I felt sorry for his crew (no fish, no tips).

One wasted day in my vacation to southern California.

Take this trip!

We have not done the twilight trip in years. However, because of time constraints, we reluctantly booked the twilight trip instead of a morning or afternoon trip. It was one of the best trips I have ever taken. The boat was uncrowded, the crew was helpful, and we caught fish from almost immediately and kept on catching until it was time to leave. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Fishing Fun

This is the second year my son and I have enjoyed a half-day fishing experience with Dana Wharf Sportfishing. Once again, we had the time of our lives! The crew was so helpful ... and patient (I kept getting my line tangled in the reel)! They found a great spot to anchor so we would have the optimum opportunity to catch lots of fish. There were guests with little or no experience (like me) and those who fish almost daily who were friendly and also very helpful. Great way to spend the 4th of July!

my 11 y.o. identical twin sons and I had a great time. Loved the Sun. noon kids fishing class prior to 12:45 pm departure. we'll be back . . . .. . hopefully sooner than later. didn't catch any fish to take home (caught & released bonito) but a lot of activity, including a dolphin eating the bait & the catch on the line!

Unexperienced Captain
Fri, Jun 25, 10   6:30 AM mickle13 Male 50-59 Local Family With Children
They were training a new Captain, but were not in the wheel house to provide proper guidance or instruction. He had problems setting up around the kelp beds...and the experienced Captain was more interested in trying to fishing.
