This trip was with my son and his son. All were first timers on a commercial sport fishing boat. We rented poles. It seems the most success by others was with spoons or lures. The live anchovies were mainly eaten by the seals and pelicans. A suggestion to those renting equipment that maybe different types of bait (lures, etc.) might increase the catching would be appreciated. After all, persons renting equipment must be novices otherwise they would already have what is needed.

The boat was fine, very clean and the galley and prepared breakfast sandwiches were very good and reasonably priced, which is appreciated. We enjoyed the experience and will do it again. But first I will need to get my own lures etc.

The crew was fine and provided help when asked.

The fishing was not as good as we expected , but that is fishing!!!! We had a good time and my grandson was very excited. He lives in your area and I'm sure that he will be back to fish with you again and soon. The crew did a great job of tending to the needs of the fishermen. I would have no problem with going on your trip again.

Thought it was costly since there were very few fish caught. Should have gone to a few more spots.

The Captain worked hard to find fish and the crew was very helpful to all the anglers. Our overall fishing experience was both fun and relaxing.

Crew was great! Fish I caught were small, but that's okay with me for this close to shore type of deal. Has got to be a lot pressure on the Calicos as heavy as they are fished here. If you are interested in a fun day on the water and don't care about a trophy or a bunch of meat for the table this is you trip.

My grandson was on his first ocean fishing trip. We got on boat and all the established fishing people headed for the back of the boat to Anchor there positions on the rail. Every spot on the rail has a number and at some point the captain is supposed to ask everyone to rotate to there same number either to the right or Left, so that everyone gets a position at the back of the boat, which is where the best fishing is, at least while anchored.

Well My Grandson who is 11 years old was never asked if he wanted or needed any help, there were other Women on the boat and they ended up on the front of the boat the whole trip.

The crew was good, food great, but only one deck hand for over 30 people with a lot of beginners.

Won't go on that Boat again!

Full boat, good half day trip

Pluses: Efficient crew, plenty of fish. adequate space, fair pricing.

The rental gear was fine and there was plenty of parking.

Minuses: Guys who got on the boat first dominated the stern and there was no rotation to move anglers around the boat.

Two teenagers who dominated the stern also appeared to be employees of some sort. They had access to the captain's space and helped clean the boat on the way in. If they were employees, they should not have competed with the paying customers for fishing space.

Nice 1/2 day on the boat

Had a nice 1/2 day on the boat out of Dana Point. It was a little crowded, no place to sit and no shade, but somewhat expected. Crew was helpful and it was fun watching other people fish as well. I only caught 4 small fish. Most were small and many thrown back. Only 2 or 3 good catches for the day.
