This trip was with my son and his son. All were first timers on a commercial sport fishing boat. We rented poles. It seems the most success by others was with spoons or lures. The live anchovies were mainly eaten by the seals and pelicans. A suggestion to those renting equipment that maybe different types of bait (lures, etc.) might increase the catching would be appreciated. After all, persons renting equipment must be novices otherwise they would already have what is needed.

The boat was fine, very clean and the galley and prepared breakfast sandwiches were very good and reasonably priced, which is appreciated. We enjoyed the experience and will do it again. But first I will need to get my own lures etc.

The crew was fine and provided help when asked.

The fishing was not as good as we expected , but that is fishing!!!! We had a good time and my grandson was very excited. He lives in your area and I'm sure that he will be back to fish with you again and soon. The crew did a great job of tending to the needs of the fishermen. I would have no problem with going on your trip again.

Thought it was costly since there were very few fish caught. Should have gone to a few more spots.

Fishing slow. The water was calm . The day was warm and the other passengers cordial. Very nice experience. Will be going again.

My daughter and I booked 1/2 day fishing. I had gone myself 5 years earlier and remember the crew being a tremendous asset. Well it wasn't a fluke! These crewmembers love what they do and it shows. They make sure you have a fantastic experience no matter your level of fishing experience. We had a BLAST and between the 2 of us caught about 35 fish. I'm coming get back in 6 months and doing this again. Boat is well kept and roomy. Food in the galley is fresh made and reasonable! Don't miss this experience!!!

Too many people on the boat.

For starters, upon first entering the galley there was a crewman with a shaved head and the start of what looked like a handle bar moustache behind the counter. He promptly reached in his mouth and removed a rather sizable "chaw" with his fingers and threw it in the trash. Upon completion of his "chaw" removal he wiped his hands with a paper towel and proceeded to prepare the morning menu. It was at this point that I opted not to eat on the boat. Watching and noticing the hired help is one of the pitfalls of a performance kitchen and when it comes to food you can't be too hygenic. Very off putting, and an image that was burned into my very being.

Good but deckhand had disrespectful attitude

We had a very enjoyable time on the afternoon half day boat except for the young deckhand who was rude and disrespectful to us. He shouted at us four times in a row for not keeping our small bass in the air and not landing on the deck, and he also disregarded our request to keep the fish heads(we use for soup) we requested at cleaning casting them overboard.

It was a very nice experience...Probably because there was only 15 people on the boat.
