Not so good...

In their defense, they did warn us the waters were pretty rough before we went out. That being said, there was no heads up that with the rough waters and high winds came NO WHALES. I did get a chance to see about 5 people losing their lunch, but other than that it was a bust.

We did get a Whale Check, good for a return visit anytime we want. We'll just make sure to check the forecast this time.

Our group consisted of my parents and my aunt, from San Antonio, TX, and I, I currently live in Mission Viejo, CA. We were hoping to see a whale. Were very excited because we saw several whales and I got a great picture of one whale tail flipping out of the water. We have raved to everyone.

We recently brought friends visiting from Pittsburgh on a whale watching trip. The adults and kids enjoyed it completely. We were lucky enough to follow a mother whale with her baby for a long time, and to top it off, they were joined by several bottle nose dolphin! I could not have been happier to share the experience with my good friends! A once in a lifetime experience for many!

Hard not to get sick, travelled a long way on choppy seas to see whales. Kudos to the captain for being determined that we would see some whales (which we did!).

Perhaps random luck, but it was a picture perfect, 70 degree day with calm seas. The whales apparently had other things to do, but we were quite happy to enjoy the common dolphins and the seals.

The morning was very cold, but fortunately we bundled up well. We got a great spot on the upper deck to sit and watch for whales. The boat was very clean and the captain friendly. It was an overcast and gray morning. We saw sea lions playing across from the boat while still at the dock. I was able to get pictures of them. The trip out was great. The sun was peeking through the clouds causing sun rays to shine down on the ocean - it was beautiful. We saw occasional dolphins, but no great group of them. It didn't matter. Where else can you take a boat ride out and see such spectacular scenery. Then, as we were heading back, it happened: two gray whales had been spotted. Our boat rushed to bring us a little closer to watch them. It was more than I could have imagined. This was something that was on my "bucket list." They were so big and majestic as they rose and moved through the water. The plume of their spray was very easy to see. Then it happened - one of the whales went into a deep dive and we saw the fluke - its tail up as if motionless in the water. It was so exciting. Even the crew were impressed. It was the Gray Whale Festival and it was the first fluke they had seen. We stayed out past our allotted time to watch these whales. For that, I am grateful. It was a wonderful trip that I would recommend to anyone visiting the area - you will not forget it!
