Great trip even without any whales!

The boat left right on time, was very clean and the crew very friendly and informative. Since we didn't see any whales, we got a whale watch ticket for another trip for free anytime. Also, the food from the grille is fantastic - all freshly made!! There is plenty of seating and/or places to stand along the railing, so it didn't feel too crowded.

Good seats for viewing on top.....first 45 min. Was a nice boat ride, saw nothing.....then we got into a large school of dolphins.....saw all of the dolphins jumping and swimming next to the boat that you would want to and several picture taking opportunities......no whales to see this trip in mid-June........stopped by a floating buoy on the way back into the harbor full of sleeping sea lions....again, more picture opportunities......nice trip for 2 hours with our grand kids.........a fun time was had by all!

We are repeat customers for the two-hour boat trips on the Dana Pride - it's something we treat ourselves to whenever we have out-of-town friends and family visiting, and no one ever seems to get tired of it. There are almost always at least dolphin sightings, even if the whales are not around, and we have had memorable experiences in the center of huge pods of dolphins AND whales AND bird feeding frenzies. Always fun.

I went on this whale watch last September. It was so fantastic (saw Blue Whales, Fin Whales and dolphins) that I took relatives on it this May. Once again, we saw lots of dolphins, who surfed with the boat, and the first sighting for the season of a Blue Whale and the 35-foot long baby. Quite exciting. I would recommend this to anyone, who enjoys wildlife, and doesn't get seasick. It can be quite choppy. Take layers of clothes, because it can be 15 degrees colder on the water. I think the 2-4 pm time is the best. The pilot finds the whales on the earlier whale trip. No meal is interrupted on the 2-4 pm slot. It can be colder and sun is lower on the 4-6 slot.

Not only was the weather spectacular, we were so impresed with our captain and crew. Their friendly attitude and knowedge of the whale migrations and other water animals made the trip so interesting. I have checkd off an item on my bucket list! Thank you!

The boat was clean, the captain navigated comfortably the open sea, with good narrative. There was even a skipper whom came around often to ask how all were doing and if any questions. Very personable and friendly. The children enjoying the cabin had a table with all sorts of plastic fish with tags on each to play with and learn from during the trip, thank you!

Different venue than I thought

My mistake. I thought I had reserved the Dana Point location at the Institute at the other end of the pier. Fortunately we arrived early enough to still participate as scheduled. No problem with electronic check-in. The crew were very pleasant & professional. Would recommend to all.

I went with my adult son and his girlfriend. They live in Los Angeles and I was visiting from Texas. We had a wonderful time. The boat left very promptly. There was a shady place for me to sit, which was great. We saw a whale with her baby that played around the boat for about 30 minutes. Everyone was really nice. The boat was very comfortable and clean. I want to go again when I get back to California.

We followed a mother and her calf for 45 minutes. They were joined by 10-15 dolphins which surrounded the whales. Then the calf breached the water. What a sight and memorable moment. The captain said that it might happen. Captain made the trip with his knowledge of the whales and his work for find us mother and calf to watch. He made the trip. Next time we have visitors we plan on taking them to see the Whales! Great Trip!
