Whale Palooza

The Captain took us to some great locations and it really paid off. We saw two large groups of gray whales (11-15 in each) and a bald eagle on Catalina Island and offshore bottle nose dolphins jumping in our wake. It was warm and beautiful and the crew and Captain were as excited and enthusiastic about our adventure as we were!

Too cold and windy for whale watching

Two hours was 1 hr too long because it was cloudy, foggy and freezing cold, (even though I brought 2 blankets). My teenagers couldn't wait to go back because it was so cold & windy. We did see few dolphins and seals. I would recommend this trip to my friends only during the summer or spring. We got some coupons toward our next trip at the end of the tour which was nice.

Fantastic Experience For Anyone

I've brought exs whale watching with me here annually because I can't get enough and it's so relaxing. That's in large part due to the boat. I've been whale watching elsewhere and get incredibly seasick but on the Dana Pride I have no such issue so she's the only boat I watch on now. The crew is immensely knowledgeable and warm. I bought Valentine's cruise tickets for my date and I but unfortunately traffic ruined our plans. Dana Wharf was gracious in transferring us to a boat ride the following day and we got lucky - double whale tail fin display and several sightings in bright sunlight. That along with a few beers and we weren't hurting about missing the champagne and chocolate ride. Thanks again and we'll be back every year, possibly several times during the season.

Amazing whale watching experience

We got extremely lucky on the Valentines day sunset cruise and stumbled upon a pod of fin whales. They are ordinarily shy and aloof, but we saw them surface and even lunge feed several times from close proximity. Pretty amazing. Even without the great sightings, the boat was smooth, the crew was nice, the other passengers were gracious and fun. Go.

Enjoyed the trip tremendously. While rain threatened and it was chilly, the experience was great. It was the first Whale Watch for my wife and she really enjoyed it. The boat was clean, the crew was very courteous and knowledgeable. They made the effort to make sure that if Whales were to be found that we would get to see them. Nice Job! Definitely a return trip in the future.

We had such a great time! The whole crew was friendly, knowledgeable and enjoyable. We had a pod of dolphins.......around 5,000 of them, following our boat, they were incredibly playful surfing on the wake from our boat, and then we saw a 70-80 ft. whale. We highly recommend this Whale Cruise!

Our boat was the first of the day to see a gray whale. I have never been that close to a whale. The pod of dolphins we saw was huge, there had to be at least a hundred dolphins jumping in and out of the water. I do recommend having a camera with no delay if you want pictures. The crew was very friendly and informative. Best place to be is in the front of the boat.

pleasant but long

It took a while for the boat to get out to where we could see whales. The kids that i had with me age 3 and two aged 8 had gotten really bored with waiting as we didnt see any whales until the tour was almost over. Be sure to bring snacks and water, if not they are sold inside the cabin on the boat. which by the way you cannot see whales through because people crowd in front of the windows on the deck when a whale is seen. Bring a sweater and a jacket. There is a big temperature difference the farther you go out into the ocean especially if there is a breeze. I recommend this trip if you have the patience and older children.
