1/2 Priced Catamaran Adventure Whale Watch Cruises

We couldn't have picked a better day. The weather was beautiful and we saw all you can see on an outing like this. We actually saw a young blue whale (about 70' long) feeding in an area for about 1/2 hour. We even saw the fluke when he dove. Also saw seal lions, pelicans and various birds. One of the most exciting moments was the pod of dolphins (it looked like over 100) who were swimming and playing along with and around the catamaran. The staff was pleasant and very informative.

The cruise was everything we had hoped for, except someone forgot to tell the whales of our rondavue point., HA! Never the less, it was very enjoyable, & relaxing.

We intend to book another cruise on our next trip.

Weather wasn't good, so half off offer offered
Sun, Oct 4, 09   12:45 PM zenabeana Female 40-49 Combination Family With Children
My son and I decided to go fishing, we decided to go to DanaPoint. The weather didn't cooperate, but the captain was trying his best to give the patroons a good trip, but decided it would be better to come in earlier. The company offered a half off offer on another trip. Since the weather is a very influential part on a sea trip, this was a very good and fair choice. The next time, I want to go on a trip like this, I definately will keep them in mind.

Skip on the 1/2 day trip

The Deckhands were all OK, no complaints there.

I think that the next time I'd take a longer trip.

1/2 day doesn't get you any time for the boat to go far enough out.

I could swear that I caught a Yellowtail on a 1/2 day boat, a few years back, but maybe it was a longer trip, so I was somewhat disappointed that this boat didn't go too far from the harbor.

A Fantastic Afternoon but All too short

As Visitors from Scotland watching a Blue whale was just fantastic. The skipper of the boat had to work his socks off to find the whale but the long wait was well worth it, The commentery from the marine biologist was an added feature of the trip.

This was a real highlight of our vacation.

Comfortable boat and good staff.

Well worth the money!!

Great afternoon out

We enjoyed our trip out on the catamaran. There were only a few people on our trip so there was plenty of room to move around and find a good spot to watch for whales, sit or sunbathe! We saw no big whales on this trip, but we did see hundreds of white- sided Dolphins. The Captain maneuvered the boat so the dolphins could ride the bow wave which delights children & adults alike.

Had a great time!

Overall, we were very pleased with the tour. The staff was very friendly, the catamaran very clean/neat, and the adventure very worth while. Luckily, we got to see whales, which was our objective. Nice to have the crew acknowledge my son's 18th birthday as well. I would have liked the marine biologist talk about whales more often, ie give a history of them, where they came from, what they eat, etc. She talked one on one with us, but had to repeat herself many times to other guests the same facts. Also, I think the tour could have been a bit longer.

Otherwise, we had a great time...

Thank you!

Good Time-Great Deal-2 kids free-good food-grumpy

My two sons age 11/12 and I decided to go fishing on the 1/2 day boat. It was a special deal -one paid adult-2 free kids. Hey,you can't beat that deal. The fishing bite was slow but the captain (boat SUMFUN)worked hard trying to find a good bite spot. The majority of the crew was polite, professional and helpful except for one deck hand who was short tempered and rude. I didnt get his name(m/white 20's heavy set 6'0 ruddish skin/ green t-shirt) but he was a grumpy @#$%. He must have had a hangover and should have stayed in bed. The boys had a breakfast sandwich and each boy caught a small fish. The boys had a great time and wanted to stay longer hoping to catch "moby dick".It was an enjoyable 1/2 day and I would go again minus the grump. Also I would like to see the rotation of the standing fishing spots on the boat done with more frequency unless were all catching our limit.

Whale and Dolphin Watching Adventure Tour

We saw four whales during the 2 hour trip, each time we were so excited when we spotted them. Oh, bring your best camera, as I regret I only had my phone camera with me. Still, the photos are great and beautiful.

Crew members are very nice and friendly. A galley with snacks and drinks (yes, including alcohol) are very nice features for me, since I got there hungry.

When the trip was about over, we saw dolphins in the hundreds, jumping and swimming, which was a great view and brought a lot of excitements as well. The boat was comfortable. I think it well worth the time and $$.

Excellent Catamaran Adventure Cruises trip

Our 3-generation group (Father, Mother, 2 Daughters and 1 granddaughter) had a terrific time on our whale watching trip on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. The weather was perfect, with warm, sunny sky, very light breeze and light, glassy seas. The boat was nice and roomy, and certainly didn't feel crowded with around 29 pasengers and crew of 4. All of the crew were very friendly and helpful. The marine biologist on board, Morgan Ritchie, and her assistant were very knowledgeable and added a lot to the trip. We even bought one of Morgan's excellent photos on the way in. We saw three different blue whales, which are awesome creatures. We also saw a mola mola (ocean sunfish) near the boat and a large marlin that jumped clear out of the water several times, though it was too far away to photograph. And, of course, we saw common dolphins - hundreds of them! Many of the dolphins were accompanied by their young ones, as they swam right next to the boat and jumped around in large areas near the boat. Almost everywhere we looked, there were dolphins. My old digital camera was way too slow on the shutter speed to get the really good shots of the whales venting upon surfacing or having their tails high in the air as they started deep dives, but my daughter got some really great photos. All-in-all, it was a wonderful trip, and I highly recommend it. We'll be back for grey whale season.

I took my 8-year old out for some Ocean fishing. We have taken this once before. Dana Point Sportfishing does a fantastic job with organization and ensuring everyone is taken care of. The captain does a great job making sure there is bite action with his knowledge of the area and what equiptment to use. I recommend this for anyone looking for Family fin!

Son and three of his buddies. We caught about 12 fish. Had a great time. Quality time with the kids, no Xbox, no phone, no TV, just hanging out and talking and fishing.

Once again GREAT GREAT time. Thanks to the Captain and crew.

Thanks Guys,
