Very enjoyable for the whole family

Did I just pick a good day for it, or is it always so beautiful on the ocean? Went for the kids, but I loved it myself! My boys were still talking about it when we got home. They really felt as though they'd had an adventure. The 2 hours went quickly as there was so much to look at (that did not include telephone wires, or fast food signs ruining the landscape) Lots of big sky and ocean - as yes we did see some whales. What we saw were mostly tips of their heads as they came up for air and their tails as they dove again. The exhalations from thier blow holes are visible and audible. Really cool fun! We will go again.

The Ocean Institute is literally 2 minutes from Dana Point harbor and affords you the opportunity to touch sea cucumbers, sun fish, star fish, and even rays. An amazing variety of sea creatures are on display and much information is presented in regards to whales. There are fun interactive displays and the staff is very knowledgeable.

Zerve customer service is super!

Before I bought tickets i read some reviews. I was a little concerned because a few ratings didn't seem too pleased. I also knew there were no absolute guarantees of seeing any whales. My daughter was home from college on Spring break so we decided to give it a try.We had a WONDERFUL time! Maybe because we went into it not expecting to see whales? We stood outside in the front. ( How anyone could sit inside I'll never know?) Just the ride itself was great but then we came across what seemed like Dolphin heaven. Hundreds, or was it thousands of Dolphins?Seemed like it. I've never seen anything like it. leaping out of the water, swimming along the boat. It was magical. I hated to leave but a whale had been spotted closer to shore so off we went . I still can't believe our luck. We actually found the whale. Everyone on the boat got so quiet,no one spoke a word.....It didn't want to show itself much, Surfaced a few times as we waited hoping it would give us a show. Unfortunately we couldn't wait any longer and had to head back. All in all it was a wonderful and would recommend giving it a try. The best I can say is everyone's experience will be different and you have to find out for yourself.......But you just might get lucky!!

No whales that day but still fun

This was a great price for a whale watching trip. For 2 parents and 3 kids (4, 2, and 4 months) it was like $68. Parking was free. The kids had a great time, which made it all worth it. We did not see any whales that day but we saw lots of dolphins. Literally hundreds of dolphins. I was seasick most of the time and sat down on the side of the boat. I still saw hundreds of dolphins without even standing.

This was my first whale watching tour. It was not too crowded, the staff was friendly and informative. We were able to see a whale and a lot of dolphins.

The crew was helpful and welcoming. Felt like family. They really worked themselves hard to be sure we actually saw whales! We also saw a mega pod of dolphins at our request. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would do it again in a hot minute!

Captain Jack did a great job. He's a funny guy. He also was the 1st boat to locate a whale Saturday morning. We'll definitely come again.

The 2 hours spent on the whale watching boat were very fun! The ocean was calm, the crew experienced, friendly and professional. Though we ultimately did not see any whales, we did receive a coupon to go back out again! I would recommend this activity to my friends!

We arrived in Dana Point early and really enjoyed the area. We waited in anticipation for the boat to dock and were excited when it came around the corner. This was the first time any of us had been in a boat in the ocean and we were thrilled.

The boat was clean, the staff was wonderful, and the experience was amazing. We didn't get to see a whole lot of whales but just being out on the water was amazing.

During our trip we encountered a small amount of bottle-nose dolphins and a few Fin whales. It was really cool. The captain wasn't satisfied with the amount of time we had with actual animal experience and offered us all $10 off our next trip. Next time we are in town we will definitely take him up on this offer.

Taking the evening trip was memorable as we were able to watch the sun set behind Catalina island. This experience will be one that our whole family remembers forever.

Our 2 hour trip was an extremely pleasant, with invigorating sea air and watching the ocean with plentiful sea life.

Although no whales were seen, we did see plenty of sea lions and dolphins. I was very impressed by the curteous crew and for giving us an opportunity to return so that we may yet get to see whales.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the Grey Whale Tour. The whales eluded us but we had a great time watching the dolphins. The equipment and crew were first rate. Really good value for the cost - especially in Southern California. Do it!
