Gorgeous day filled with wildlife!
Tue, Jul 17, 12   12:00 PM jproctor73 Female 30-39 Local Family With Children
We were surrounded by blue whales in all directions...as many as 6 at a time. Then we saw humpback whales breaching! There weren't as many dolphins as usual, but the water was filled with sea jellies and we saw a few sea lions as well. The trip was well worth the hour drive from San Diego.

Great experience! Saw several whales!

Went with my wife and two kids on the 2-hour whale-watching cruise in mid-July. The boat took us on a very smooth ride about 5 - 6 miles out into the ocean. We saw several blue whales and two humpback whales. Also saw a couple of pods of dolphins and some sea lions. Seeing the whales was spectacular and well worth the money on half-price Tuesday, but would have been worth it if we had paid full price! If we are ever back in that area, we will definitely do it again. For me, this was the highlight of our vacation! I highly recommend this activity to anybody, especially families!

Worth every penny!

We took the whale watching trip on half price Tuesday. It was worth every penny. I would recommend taking some Drmamine about 1 hour before you get on the boat.. The crew was very friendly and the boat was clean. We were lucky enough to watch two humpback whales and one blue whale. The captain was very knowledgeable about the whales and gave an easy to understand presentation. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

We went on the catamaran on July 16 at 2:00. We were with our 8 year old grandson who is from Arizona. We saw several pairs of Blue Whales, we saw a Fin Whale and a large school of dolphins. It was spectacular! The crew did a great job explaining everything to us, including the large red spot in the water aka whale poop! It was so interesting! Our grandson had a ball too!

A fun time

I took my boyfriend fishing for his birthday and it was both of our first times. We went out on Sum Fun and the crew was helpful. We found out after we had booked our tickets that it was the kids deal day. It didn't bother me too much other than a few extra tangled lines than I imagine there might normally be. I caught 3 fish (all too small to keep) but had a fun time and good day over all.

A Friday Evening to Remember
Fri, Jul 13, 12   5:30 PM davidhward Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We (4of us) booked a twilight fishing trip on a friday evening. It was expected to go a little further out of the harbor, but we went only about a mile from shore. The captain took us to three different locations with very little success. It was interesting to find out that the few fish being caught were much smaller. So the bait we were using should have been much smaller. We didn't find that out until the last spot we dropped our lines. There was 57 people on the boat with 4 crew members including the captain. There was only going to be 44 but a few more were allowed on the boat. It was a little crowded but to be expected... so lines got tangled about half the time. Then because we were fishing so close to shore it was a little more difficult keeping your bait on the hook and from being eaten by the birds. I ended up catching a pelican. It flew off with my hook & bait then broke my line . I would probably go on a full day trip instead next time if you're more interested in catching something besides a bird and smaller fish. Otherwise, it was a relaxing three hour tour close to shore with very well used rented rod & reel. I would not rent them again. If you are a more serious fishermen then bring your own gear. But it was fun and the ocean was calmer close to shore.

Best Whale Watching Experiebce EVER!
Fri, Jul 13, 12   2:00 PM deniseanunez Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was my second time in the last 2 months going on the Catamaran. I thought the first times was awesome because we had 300 dolphins racing the boat, saw a menke whale and sea lions, but this second trip was amazing!!!!! We saw several groups of dolphins, but saw 3 humpback whales. We saw a mom and baby together that came right up to the boat! It was AMAZING! I recommend paying the extra money for the Catamaran! Friends have done others and say that they are not worth it, but the two times I have been on the Catamaran, I have had amazing experiences. My 3.5 year old nephew loved it and still asks about the dolphins, sea lions, and whales on the boat.

Whale watching.

We appreciated the efforts by the crew to find the whales especially when it looked like we wouldn't see any that day. The crew went further on the excursion than they normally would. Also, the guide gave lots of information on the ocean life we saw. Thanks for a great trip.

Whale and Dolphin Watching Adventure Tour

We were disappointed as we did not see anything. It was cool and rainy and the crew did their best to find signs of life. Turned into a two hour boat ride only. The company offered everyone another free ride within a year as long as we kept our ticket and called prior to coming to the dock to make sure they were not full. This was a very nice gesture as we did not expect it. We knew going in that this type of venture is a risk. The crew was friendly and everything ran on time. Although disappointed that we did not see anything, I feel the company did a great job trying to rectify that. It was a nice surprise. It was our last day so it did us no good. I would have been more upset had I paid full price.

Informative, enjoyable adventure
Wed, Jul 11, 12   2:00 PM jprich Female 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Unspecified
The boat left on time. The weather was fine until the fog set in. The captain was enthusiastic, well informed and made the cruise quite enjoyable. It was fun to see a hugh pod of dolpins. The whale was too far south to get to. July isn't the best time of the year for whale watching. I highly recommend taking a sweatshirt, windbreaker or warm sweater to protect you should the weather get cold, which it did on our trip.

Fishing off Dana Point Sucks
Wed, Jul 11, 12   6:30 AM shankbro Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Id NEVER do that again. We stayed so close to the shore, that we couldn't get away from the pelicans, seals and dolphin. Needless to say, the only thing caught were the pelicans. It was quite sad too see all theses birds with hooks and lures stuck in their little pea brained heads.

From now on, it's only full day boat fishing trips for me!

Wish the crew would provide more information as to what they were doing. I just saw them smoking in the wheelhouse for the last hour of the trip. Would not say that we are looking for dolphins or whales after the first hour and encounter.
