The tour was well organised, the crew were helpful and informative/educational, the trip itself was enjoyable and it was great to see the sea lions and lots of dolphins..pity we didn't sight a whale!

All in all a great experience..and I would happily recommend it to others.

We knew that we were a little late for whale watching as most had migrated north, but our crew spotted a mama gray whale and her baby. We had dolphins racing our catamaran. The ride alone is worth the trip, it is thrilling and so much fun - catamarans are the best! I would do this trip again and again, maybe a bit earlier. The crew was wonderful! Thank you for a great ride!

Whale Watching was the highlight of our trip!

We were a group composed of three sisters and our husbands' in California for the wedding of our cousin. He recommended an afternoon of whale watching, and we decided to go, even though it was late in the season. To our delight we not only saw dolphins, but a mother whale and her baby. Jr. was quite the showman! His antics had all of us on the catamaran staring with our mouths agape. The youngster provided an outstanding performance that was simply breathtaking. Our pilot kindly extended our cruise in order to allow plenty of time for everyone to be amazed. It was a magical afternoon.. We all decided that this cruise was the highlight of our trip - and that is saying a great deal as the wedding we attended was held at the Chart House in Dana Point, on Saturday, the day of the Flower Moon! Only the sight of one baby whale hamming it up in what was surely pure joy, and who loved showing off could top those two events! None of us will ever forget it.

Whale Watching and Dolphins

This crew was great. They knew exactly where the whales were. They kept a respectful distance and gave us a lot of information about the whales and dolphins.

Will return when the blue whales are around.

It was fantastic!! We saw a blue whale, a shark, and sea lions. The captain was informative and very patient. We got to follow the whale for some time while we watched it swim on it's long journey. It was so peaceful and the boat was big enough so you didn't get sea sick easily. I loved it!!

Saw lots of playful dolphins up-close, also saw an Elephant Seal and some Fin Whales. The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the boat was roomy and comfortable. And the 1/2-price tickets were certainly a good deal! :-)

We had visited Southern California before and never spotted any whales. We decided to take the Dana Wharf Whale Watching tour. The Captain and crew were very informed about whales and dolphins and not only gave tips on spotting whales and dolphins but also shared factual information in an interesting way. On the trip we saw several Grey Whales, Sea Lions, and a large group of Common Dolphins. The Captain cruised slowly and turned the boat frequently allowing all passengers to get a good view and take photographs. We took the 2 p.m. cruise after the morning fog lifted. That worked well for visibility. After the cruise, I was able to spot more whales from the shore using the tips I had learned on the cruise. We would definitely go again.

No Whales but Who Cares

It was great being out on the ocean, and we "parked" in a pod of dolphins and had a great time watching them frolic. I swear they planned their jumps to void the cameras! And they seemed genuinely happy to see us and genuinely reluctant for us to leave when we did.

Oh, and we saw a sea lion. (I called it a seal and one of the crew corrected me with a good natured chuckle.)

The crew was friendly and professional and quite knowledgeable about where we were going and what we were seeing.

The trip was so enjoyable, I didn't even regret the prescription glasses I managed to drop overboard on the way out of the harbor. Really!

Our family consisted of young adults and seniors. We thoroughly enjoyed the outing and recommend it highly to anyone in the area. In addition to the whale watching we enjoyed the information given to us while we searched for whales and dolphins around us.

We happened to pick a beautiful SoCal Saturday afternoon. Even though the day's previous groups had apparently not seen any whales, we figured we'd enjoy the cruise. To our joy, we had a whale spotted within 10 minutes (a rather camera-shy whale, but it apparently had other things on its agenda). The guide did a great job of narrating what we might expect, as well as giving interesting information on the actual spotting.

The captain and guide also decided about midway that we should change our route to try for more sightings, and we were pleased to cruise into a group of dolphins, who added to the "success" of the cruise by swimming along with our boat for awhile.

All in all, I would very much recommend this activity, though I would have to say that, on a day such as that, the cruise would have been pleasurable even without having seen any whales.
