Spectacular day

This was just a wonderful experience. The weather was lovely with blue skies and cool temperatures. The boat ride was pretty smooth. We saw lots of dolphins and several seals. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to see any whales when the captain asked us to hold on because he was going to pick up speed. About ten minutes later he announced that a pair of grey whales had been spotted in the area we were now cruising. And about a minute later we were treated to the presence of whales. We cruised along with them for what seemed like a long time, and just as we're were about to leave one of them breeched, not once , but three or four times. It was marvelous. This is something we will do again. Bring warm clothing and sun tan lotion!

Great experience! Saw tons of dolphins! Tour went long so we could see a couple of blue whales!

went with 8 family members and everyone enjoyed being out on the ocean. at first all we saw was lots of dolphin but toward the end of our tour the Captain spotted some gray whales and followed them north along the coastline. we were late getting back but nobody cared because we were enjoying the whales and dolphins. the Captain was very informative. Loved it!

This is an excellent excursion when there are whales; it's fun and a good boat ride when there are not. But if you are expecting whales you should contact them ahead of time to find out what is in season and how often they are being sighted. The captain/guide on our trip was extraordinary -- insightful and entertaining. I was concerned that we departed 20 minutes late -- though some of this time was made up on the back end of the trip. My only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating is that you might not see whales -- and for a trip billed as WHALE WATCHING that's a caveat emptor.

This whale watching journey was everything we hoped for! Our Captain was also a Naturalist and really knowledgable about the migrating whale population and surrounding sea mammals. He went way out of his way to track two whales he'd seen on the trip before ours and was able to locate them lolling in the waters about 9 miles down the coast. I thought I knew a lot about whales until I heard his narrative about them and it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend the Dana Pride Whale watching event. Advice: Dress warmly in layers and, if you're tall, try to let the little people stand in front of you!

Not What I Hoped For

I know it's not possible to guarantee whale sightings, and the captain did follow one whale because that's all that was in the area, but it was very hard to see the whale with all the other people standing by the edge of the boat. Other small boats in the area were spooking that whale so he barely showed, and certainly didn't show his tail. Also, the company switched me to a different time and different boat a few hours before the scheduled trip, after I paid to go out on the better trip, on the Catamaran. That was disappointing. Not sure if I would go with this company for future whale watching trips.

Great way to see whales

The size of the boat, the knowledge of the crew and the amount of people on board made for a great trip. We wish we were able to be closer but the whales were a little shy. We ended up receiving 50% vouchers for another trip. What a great experience.

Fun, Funny & Amazing

My husband took me on this trip for my birthday and it was every thing we'd hoped for and more. We saw hundreds of dolphins and the whales that decided to visit were fun to watch. Whomever was our "captain" on the boat that day was entertaining and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this adventure. The food/drinks that were available were top notch. Never skimped on the alcohol in the bloody marys either which was a plus since it was my birthday. I would recommend this in a heartbeat!

Unfortunately, it was so foggy that we couldn't see much of anything. Captain Jack was unable to look for animal activity & of course the other boats were in the same situation. He was very sorry & we got rain checks for a better day.

A once in a lifetime day for seeing whales

Unfortunately, this kind of whale watching tour doesn't happen every day.

The boat, crew, etc. were all great however, and that will happen (or should) every time.

My wife and I were visiting her sister in Orange Co. and she suggested this activity as something new to do while there. While we had seen whales in Hawaii , it was from a distance(hiway overlook), so it was pretty cool being close and on the water with them this time. There were 4 whales total sighted and followed. It's also always fun to have dolphins playing along side the boat. I would recommend for anyone who can handle a few large swells on occasion while on the water.
