We saw two gray whales and tons of dolphin. My six year old was fascinated. Very nice staff. Brought our 3 year old and baby too and felt they were safe on board.

Take time to not talk so much and let guests enjoy

Too much talking from captain. Education is good, but take time that guests can all be silent and connect with nature.

Great Cruise

We spotted two large gray whales right away and we followed them for almost half an hour. Then we were suddenly in the midst of hundreds of dolphins. They were leaping, swimming very close to our boat and surfing our wake. We also saw a group of sea lions squabbling over space on a buoy. Our captain was also a naturalist and provided a lot of interesting information. The other crew were friendly and helpful and the boat was clean and comfortable. Finally, with the limited number of passengers, I always had an unobstructed view right at the rail and I believe that everyone else did as well. This cruise will remain one of the highlights of my California visit.

We got to see a dozen dolphins swimming around our bite and even got to see 4 whales! Our captain was awesome, very informative and kept us out there for an extra half an hour just to experience the whales. Thanks for the great experience!

Fun Trip, take it

We only saw two whales, but we did see over a thousand dolphins in the water all at once. Yes, a gigantic pod of dolphins. I have seen many dolphins in my time, but never so manay in one spot. They were swimming and diving all around the boat for 20 minutes. It is a fun ride even if there are no whales.

Constructive criticisim, the guide talked continually. He needs to give it a rest occasionally.

We had a great time. It was so neat to see all the sea lions, dolphins, and whales. The crew was so nice and very knowledgeable. Worth every penny and made lifetime memories.

Come fishing!

I have fished up and down the California coast for over 50 years. There are a lot of good ports, and a lot of good boats. But none can beat the Dana Wharf for clean boats, good scenery, and friendly, helpful crews.

I fish on the Dana Wharf boats a lot- nearly every week. I hope to meet you when you come out fishing.

Though I've been whale watching several times, and as a "California girl" have learned quite a bit about whales and sea life, I forget what a lovely adventure awaits me right in my own backyard, one that visitors to our state travel miles and miles to experience. So when I heard that this year there was an especially large number of whale sightings, I decided it was time to go again.

I knew that even if not a single whale was sighted, sailing out of Dana Point Harbor would be a fun excursion providing gorgeous views of the OC coast.

It was with great anticipation that we watched the horizon for those tell-tale puffs of water vapor. We were not disappointed! Our captain and crew tracked down several California Gray whales and two different kinds of dolphins (common and bottlenose) who frolicked around and ahead of our boat...providing ample opportunities for viewing and photos. All the while, we were provided with very interesting and educational commentary.

Whales and dolphins are so awesome!! It seems I learn something new about them every time. This voyage was no exception --gets an A plus from me -- and I'm ready to go again.... soon!

After reading about the awesome whale watch season out of Dana Point, we had to go see for ourselves and we were not disappointed. We followed 3 Gray whales south for over an hour and were treated to multiple close-up views, spy-hops, and even breaching! The captain is very knowledgeable and knows where the whales are and what they will be doing. He positioned the ship to give us maximum views. The ship was very clean and comfortable. We went on the Tuesday half price day and will definitely be back. To avoid the crowds, take either the early or late boat, the middle one had a lot of people waiting when we got back.

I was able to book the morning of my departure. Staff was friendly, Captain (Tom) was great and it was a beautiful day. They made sure we saw some of everything. After we followed a pair of Gray Whales down the coast they made sure to stop by a pod of playful dolphins &a group of sleepy sea lions. Thanks for a great trip!

Don't go

While the crew seemed to be nice guys, it was a boat catered to new people that probably have never been on a boat. I should probably expect that on 1/2 day boats but common! We only fished in over fished areas, and when one of the guys told us that we would be lucky to catch 1 fish, I thought he was joking, but sadly was true. Go to other places like long beach or marina del ray, might not be the nice and friendly crew, but at least the will give you an opportunity to fish and not be a tourrest just happy to see the ocean. Waste of money. Never going back to Dana point

Whale watching half price Tuesdays

My daughter who was visiting from Florida and I went whale watching on the Dana Pride on half price Tuesday a couple of weeks ago. We gad a great time and saw some whales, dolphins, and sea lions on our trip. The captain and crew were great and very knowledgeable about all the sea life and facts about the area. I would definitely do it again and recommend it to anyone that wants to go see all the sea life and have a good time!
