Thar she blows!

Couldn't have asked for a more pleasure able experience! As soon as we boarded we were greeted warmly by the crew. While we waited for the captain to start our excursion, a naturalist ( Irene), who was part of the crew that day, took the time to introduce herself and if we had any questions about the wild life we were about to see she wod be more than happy to answer them. Once were out to sea it did not take long before we saw a large pod of dolphins. That was very thrilling for my children and everyone else on board. While we enjoyed the care free fun the dolphins were having in the water the captain shared very informative facts about the type of dolphin we were observing. When we moved on, the captain took us on a fast boat ride to catch a couple of whales...that was fun too. Once we caught up with the whales he kept a respectable distance behind the whales. Those 2 particular whales were "courting" n we were the spectators. We saw them fluke a few times, which was exciting. Again, while we watched the activities in the water, the Captain shared his knowledge about the gray whales. On our way back to the dock, we took advantage of the naturalist on board and we might of monopolized her for a little longer than we probably should of but the kids n I got all of our questions answered. We had a fantastic time!

This is a 2 hour boat tour in the beautiful Dana Point harbor and the opportunity to see many schools of dolphins swimming and playing in the ocean as well as seeing a whale. Our tour was guided by a very knowledgeable and passionate individual who truly enjoyed speaking and educating us about aquatic living, eating habits of the animals, migration of the whales and the every day life of the dolphins, whales, sea lions and other animals seen during our venture. His passion and excitement for leading these tours made it very educational and enjoyable for everyone on the venture. Great job and highly recommended to everyone considering this awesome adventure and we will definitely do it again next time in the area!

Even though we didn't get to see any whales that day, we did see a lot of dolphins and sea lions. The guides were really informative and it was so much fun to see the dolphins in their natural habitat. Since we didn't see any whales, we got our tickets back to come another day. I would highly recommend!

Had only a half day to fit one more activity in before flying home. Wanted to get out on the water and decided this was the way to go and possibly see a whale while out there. Our knowledgeable and entertaining Captain Jack knew exactly what he was doing. He seemed to have a sixth sense as to where the whale was going. Sure enough we were able to see a gray whale breach about 9 or 10 times in a very short time. What a thrill! It even brought a tear to my eye to see this whale playing in it's own habitat. A great memory I was able to share with my two grown daughters and my granddaughter. It was also fun to see the captain and crew get so excited along with the rest of the passengers. Thanks so much for a great day! Highly recommend.

We had a great time on the whale watching tour. The crew was very knowledgable. I liked that the company seemed to have respect for the whales and didn't want to disturb their natural migration. We got really lucky and saw a whale breach several times, which they said is pretty rare. The boat ride was smooth and there was food and drinks available, and music playing; we had a lot of fun.

Great time and did not see much for over one hour, then captain announced he spotted two humpback whales and we sped to the area, Oblerves two humpbacks traveling together..

Later observed minke whale and some sea lions, Also captain oblerved grey whale, but it was near the end of our time and had to return.

Great time, and would redcommend to anyone, If you do not see something, you can return for free!!

The weather was cold and foggy but the trip was so much fun! We saw two gray whales. We watched the whales for about an hour. There was great narration and the facts were so fun to hear. We saw some "local" dolphins and some seals. It was a very great experience and we plan to do it again very soon.

Good tour, missing a close encounter with whales.

The tour did took us in open sea's where whales were, but the whales were not co-operating and just saw tail 2-3 times. Saw Dolphins and sea lions very closely, but would have loved to see the whales in 40-50 yard distance. The tour manager tried to get us close but we were always 200-300 yards away.. so what we saw was a little part of the whales. He could have tried to take us little far from the harbor where we may have found some whales interested in playing and showing. It is a good season for whales and their are a lot in that area. Would have certainly liked going farther to see the whales. He could have taken us farther in with larger concentration of whales, rather than chasing a whale and a baby whale close to harbor.

Picked an awesome day, weather was amazing, saw 3 whales (although lots of people were out in boats due to the awesome weather, so the whales were not so social, and we also ran into a huge (1,200) pack of dolphins that were very social, playing in the boat's wake made for great photos! would definitely do it again

The cost for the trip is in line with other whale watching trips I've experienced. We saw two gray whales and were able to follow them for about 30 minutes. We also saw a group of sea lions on one of the buoys a short distance from the harbor. We did not see any dolphins on this trip. The narrator was very informative not only about the gray whales we saw, but also about Dana Point in general. Overall, the ride, by itself, was amazing! I highly recommend the Dana Warf Whale Watching trip.

This was 2nd time we went. This boat had less outside seating and less interior space as well. We saw 1 whale, at a distance - disappointing.

Awesome crew, bad time to fish

girlfriend caught a red snapper, i didn't catch anything. Got over 3 hours of fishing time in.

Rest of the boat there were 2 keeper fish, one guy caught the same exact fish 3 times. Other than that, maybe 5-6 poisonous fish were caught?

I'd wait until it gets a little warmer out and the fish start biting.
