Although the fishing was slow, the crew was very good. They helped us try different combinations to improve our chances. Twilight in the ocean was beautiful, and so was the sunset.

The crew worked very hard to make four whale sitings even though there were very rough seas and the whales were hard to spot.

No whales, but still enjoyed ourselves

This was our first whale watching adventure and we had high hopes to see some blue whales, but unfortunately none were sighted on this trip. It did appear that the staff made every effort to locate them, but no luck. Still, the day was sunny and the staff was friendly. At the end of the trip, our tickets were returned to us so that we could come back at no additional cost and try another whale watching adventure. We look forward to returning. Pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on the ocean.

We had a good time. Did not see whales, but did see a lot of dolphins. Unfortunately the weather was not good - raining lightly - but we enjoyed our trip anyway. Everyone was pleasant and boat was right on time!!

We looked for a specific whale, saw it twice, and saw another once. Didn't see dophins at all. I assumed we'd see more animals, but it might have been the time of the day (5pm.) All in all at least we saw something, and the boat was nice.

Whale and Dolphin Watching Adventure Tour

My husband, daughter, son-in-law, two-year-old grandson and I took the 5PM tour to see the blue whales and we were not disappointed. I have a fear of water (can't swim) and was afraid to take a smaller boat. The Dana Pride was perfect for me. We got seats on the top deck and saw our first whale within 10 minutes of leaving the dock. The boat was big enough so that I did not feel like I might fall in the water but not so big as to feel crowded.

Our guide/pilot was very knowledgable about the whales and continued to find more for us to see as the time went on. We were a bit late getting back because we followed a pair of whales a little way down the coast so we could get a good view. This also allowed us to experience the sunset.

We would do this trip again in a heartbeat.

Fun for the family

I would highly recommend this trip. We had 3 kids (7,5,3), who thoroughly enjoyed watching the dolphins, whales, and sea lions (NOT seals). The youngest 2 got pretty tired and fell asleep for the last 30 minutes. The guides were great and entertaining. They have restrooms on the boat, as well as drinks, chips, and hot dogs / grilled cheese if you are hungry.

We didn't catch anything, but for a non-fisher like me, the staff was super helpful and fishing on the oceanfront was a new adventure. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent day on the watere when Cory the Captain decided to stop searching for "Dorado,Mahi mahi, dolphin for 90 minutes...It was a great ride but the sea was way to flat to search for kelp patties.....After which we moved closer to shore to catch numerous Calico/Kelp Bass, techinque is much like fishing for yellowtail snapper in the Florida Keys....Rig a sliding egg sinker 1/8 to 1/2 ounce depending on current with a 1 to 1/0 circle hook....Both squid and sardine filets worked well...Place bait as close to kelp as possible as the Calico Bass are extremely territorial and aggressives as the bait drops 4 to 12 feet below the kelp....If using live bait use 3/4 to 1 ounce egg sinker to get the bait quickly to the bottom for halibut and away from birds. Pacific Barracuda, Halibut, a few pelicans, Commorants and losing fish to a pesky sea lion. Birds are definetly a problem when fishing live bait.....Both the mates Chad and Mike are excellent as was the captain in assisting patrons. Other than catching the fish themselves they did everything possible to find fish.......As a bonus the selection of beer was great and I had the best cheeseburger on a fishing boat ever......Fish are fileted on the way in so inner is ready to prepare when you get home or back to your hotel if the chef will cooperate,,,Wish i had taken a full day......As an ex mate of numberous fishing boats in the Florida Keys......These guys get an A++++and I would recommend them highly and hope to be back soon......

We had a fantastic adventure watching the blue whales and dolphins. The skipper was great and so forthcoming with lots of facts about all of sealife we saw. The crew was very friendly as were the other people on the trip. There were so many blue whales we couldn't even count them all. What a treat for my daughter's 40th birthday!!
