Family Fun Day at Dana Point Harbor

Had a great time on the boat with my husband children. Unfortunately we didn't see any whales or dolphins, but they were so kind enough to give us a raincheck to come back! Will definately be going back and telling my family and friends about it!!

Too far to see

Picture this, you see whale spouts 300 feet in front of you, and once in a while you will see a little bit of a whale, no tails, no heads, not like the brochure.....pretty boring time. The protection of the Whale does not allow the ship to get closer, so that's the REAL story

The captain of our boat 1/18/15 at 12:00 was very informative about the ocean life we saw. Not only were we lucky enough to see whale and a mega pod of dauphin but I also came away feeling totally educated.

Went in April 2011. The boat ride was smooth and refreshing and the crew / guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The second whale watch cruise I've ever been on and this time actually saw whales. Three gray whales, 30+ dolphins (2 species), sea lions, pelicans, and other sea birds. The captain knew approximately where they were, familiar with the way they migrate, so we didn't miss them. Beautiful to watch them playing together and with the dolphins. Great experience all around and for the price ($15 per person on 1/2 price Tues), you can't beat the value. Very satisfied with the experience.

Great "Winter" Experience

Having left Walden Colorado (you'll have to look it up on a map since people born and raised in the state don't even know where it is) at MINUS 20 degrees, we wanted an ocean-going trip to see whales during the Christmas break. We were not disappointed - the knowledgeable captain and crew were friendly and smiling during most of the trip - they needed to get "serious" for the landing and preparation which is a plus. The ship was clean and well organized and we made friends with several couples from around the world. We had a beautiful day on the ocean and came back with suntans - in January!

It was overcast and a bit cool, but not enough to detract from a great whale watching day. Captain and crew were very knowledgeable and helpful.

We went on Valentines Day. We weren't sure if we would see anything but we saw one whale and a whole bunch of dolphins that were swimming right next to the boat. The crew was super nice and helpful. They knew exactly where to find the sea life. We even got to see the sunset. We would definitely recommend this to our friends.

AN Unforgettable Experience

Seeing the whales was indescribably stirring. The catamaran crew were great; marine biologist on board very informative and made the experience much more meaningful. Logistics couldn't have been easier or smoother. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to going again.

We had a very good experience on our whale watching trip. We saw a pair whales that the boat tracked for about 45 minutes. We also saw a few dolphins and sea lions. The captain was knowledgeable and did a good job at following the whales so we got to see them spout several times. I definitely want to go back out again during blue whale season!

Spring Break 2014

It was a little rainy so grab a poncho ($2.00), but great trip. Very informative captain, found two whales. Seemed like he followed as long as possible even maybe a little longer than allowed so we would get to see as much as we could. Great trip would do again and might try fishing next time.

Fun but could have been better

It was a fun trip and the crew was awesome but we didn't get any fish. Maybe 3 people caught something. The jacklot fish was maybe 2 pounds. It would have been better if more people caught fish

We were in Dana Point for over a week and the ocean mesmerized us. We were so excited to board the boat and head out on the open waters! We saw hundreds of dolphins, what an experience!! We had our 7 year old and 1 year old daughters. Both had a great experience. Unfortunately we did not see any whales on our trip but the other sea life was enough to make this experience memorable. The crew were helpful and had tons of great information.

Caught nothing ....not much crew help

We were given rental poles in the office that were a problem for the boys to use. Open spinners...they tangled constantly...The captain came down and saw them tangled once and said to the boys "Why the hell did you rent these polls if you don't know how to use them."

We used live bait that was say too big to catch anything. The only ones catching fish were using their own tackle. I would have purchased lures in the shop if someone had advised me to do it.

On the boat we were given instruction by the other fisherman not the crew.

After a snag once my son's line snapped and the crew member helping him walked away....so my son then had to run him down to replace his tackle.

At first we were yelled instructions to fish on the top above the kelp...and then later we were told to fish down deeper...without any instruction or help changing tackle.

Crew was friendly just unhelpful.

Galley was fine...good food pretty good service.

Three of us caught nothing.
