We had the tour in record setting temps of almost 100 degrees. The outside portion even in nice weather is marginal at best. I would suggest during extreme hot or rain is to have an alternate route that would cut the outside portion of the tour down in at least half, and give your quest more time inside even if it is only to allow 10 to 15 minutes of shopping at one or two shops

Great Tour that Must be Part of NY Experience

This tour was one of the highlights of our second trip to NYC. It was delightful, very imformative about the history/ restoration of the Meat Packing District, and is well worth anyone's time. Our guide was very knowledgeable, yet fun and entertaining, and he MADE the tour for us! He kept us on schedule, but allowed us the freedom we needed from place to place. We ended on time, and then went back and shopped with several retailers, as he suggested. I have already recommended this tour to many since my return home; I guess I raved about it so much that many friends and family want to reserve a spot for their next trip!

Excellent, informative tour and some great food samplings. The red velvet cupcake from Eleni's Bakery and the pasta dish from Macelleria were scrumptious. Kurt, our guide, was knowledgeable, entertaining and unbelievable with names!

Darryl our guide was a top notch tour guide and had a great sense of humor. I loved the lobster bisque at the The Lobster Place in the market. Also Darryl took us to Highline Park and that is a lovely place. Great job and thank you.

Great tour of Chelsea Market & Meatpacking Area

This is our second tour with the Foods of New York Tours company. We took the Greenwich Tour a year ago and enjoyed it immensely. My husband was a bit skeptical of whether the tour was something he would enjoy. It turned out he thoroughly enjoyed it. So this time around we took our 27 year old son who just graduated from NYU and wondered how he would like it. He also enjoyed it. He wasn't sure about the 3 hour part--but, the tour keeps a great pace and you don't realize the 3 hours have passed. I am from Seattle, Washington and I have recommended this tour to everyone I know that is going to be in the New York area. I have received only great responses back.

Chelsea Market Concourse is wonderful place to visit to experience an interesting aspect of New York. Get a look at the behind-the-scenes of food-centered businesses that are at the heart of the food industry. The walking tour's many sights, sounds, smells and tastes are there for all to enjoy. Tour Guide Bob's knowledge and insights were key to the pleasure we enjoyed on the food tasting tour. His presentation and manner made the tour educational, fun and especially worthwhile. The tour was at pace that was well suited for the concourse and offered a chance to get answers and to spend time observing and learning. This is a wonderful tour that is not to be missed by visitors to New York.

Great Tour

Everyone in our group (8) enjoyed this tour. We have been on all of the Foods of New York tours and have enjoyed every one of them. Because the weather was a little unpredictable when we went, it really didn't matter because most of this tour is inside. (something worth considering during the winter or in the heat of the summer) Our tour guide, Darryl, was excellent! He was very enthusiastic and related well to the group. He was a lot of fun and really seemed to enjoy what he was doing. Especially enjoyable on this tour was the walk along the High Line to get to the last stop on the tour which is a restaurant in the Meatpacking District. The food samplings are adequate (though I think the samplings on the Greenwich Village tours are a little more substantial) These tours are a great way to spend a couple of hours learning about the food, history and architecture of different parts of the city.

I enjoyed each and every stop on the tour and the information our guide gave us. My one critique and critique of our group was starting the tour with the cupcakes and sweets. That should have been last.

I think the tour could have been done by anybody but what made it so fabulous was our guide, Curt. From the minute he met us all, he knew our names and addressed us personally as he was giving the tour. He is an asset that is golden. The energy that comes from him is catching. What a gem!
