Fun with Darryl in Chelsea Markets

We are two Aussies and two Canadians who were travelling in New York to celebrate the new year together. On our last trip to NYC we loved the Greenwich Village tour with "Foods of New York Tours" and wanted to take our Canadian friends on something similar, hence this one. We had great fun and interesting foods with Darryl on the walking tour through the markets and in the Meat Packing District. Whilst the lobster bisque was a favourite at The Lobster Place, the tastings were all excellent. What a great way to get to know the Chelsea Markets and the district and some history of the area. We highly recommend this tour

our guide was the inspiration for this tour of the market...he was knowledgeable and entertaining...loads of personality and what amazed us was the fact that he was able to put our names and faces together during our tour...although i realize he knew who was coming it still resinated someone who made a connection with each of us...it made it more personal rather than just a group of people following a tour guide...the food was plentiful and delicious...the history of this site was intriguing...i would recommend it and will try the other tours of china town and the village when i return to new york. iam a former new yorker but had not spent much time in this area...it is nice to see parts of the city rejuvinated...

A vacation activity close to home

Tour guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and managed the group well. Food stops were good but would have liked it better if it could have been a bit more balanced - i.e. what you'd actually have for a lunch instead of heavy load of all carbs - egg nog, muffin, pasta

Chelsea Market incredible place to be - could have shortened the time there in favor of more time in Meatpacking since everything accessible. Will come back on my own

Meatpacking District very interesting; The High Line was a highlight. Will go back to walk the entire distance. Enjoyed history and peeks inside shops and food venues in the area.

The Zerve tours are a great introduction to an area.

1. Guide made judgmental remarks that suggested a lame attempt at humor or pandering to a conservative attitude. For example, "Transvestite prostitutes used to work this street. RuPaul lived here, so I guess he didn't have far to walk to go to work." Another example, "The Lower East Side is interesting, but I wouldn't go there at night - a bit dicey."

2. Toward the end of the tour, there was a stop at an empty beerhall, that appeared to be merely a 'paid advertisement' for a place that offered "draft beer and ping-pong!!?"

3. It would have been nice if any of the shop owners acknowledged our group. I broke away, and met Sarabeth and got her to autograph her new book for me. It would have been nice if the guide had facilitated something like this.

The highlight of our trip to NYC.

A delightful 3 hours with energetic and entertaining guide, Kurt. Very well organized, fast paced, and luckily for us, on a very, very cold day, mostly indoors. Food tastings were wonderful. Looking forward to going to the Village next trip.

Chelsea Tour

Our group had the very best guide, Diana. So very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and just a person you would be friends with immediately. So much food tasting( don't plan on eating a big meal that night), and great places to return in the future ,if in NYC, again.

Our group(4 to 8 ladies) travels to NYC every other year, and will take this tour again, asking for our same guide. We found so many restaurants, and shops to go back and purchase items for gifts. The tour is mostly in doors, so recommended in the cold months. We were there first week of December.

This was our third tour with them, and the most enjoyable by all my group. We would have never visited this location if not for taking the tour first. We will now put this in our agent every time we visit NYC.
