Great, Wonderful, BUT

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. We plan to take some of your other food tours on our next visit to NYC. The tour guide (Kurt) was enthsiastic and very knowledgable.

We have two (constructive we hope) criticisms:

1) We would have appreciated earlier start times. Our tour started at 11:00AM and we had tickets to a broadway show at 2:00. Kurt was very helpful telling us when to leave and where to catch a cab (we made the show on time). But had the tour started at 10:30, or even 10, we would not have had to cut the end of the tour. As many NYC visitors do attend afternoon shows, this would be a plus.

2) The salt tasting, was not of any particular interest to us - you could easilyskip that one.

What A Wonderful Way To Discover An Area!

We had never been to Chelsea, and loved this introduction to Chelsea Market and the surrounding area. The tasting tour of the Market far exceeded our expectations. Curt absolutely exceeded our expectations as our tour director. His knowledge of the area, his humor, and his attention to detail made this an experience that we would highly recommend to others. The "tastings" were very good in flavors, amounts, and variety. After the tour we went back to the market to buy some of the foods we had sampled (I wish this market was in our area), and to wander through the rest of the shops. As we toured the neighborhood around the market, we developed a list of "must try" restaurants for our next trip to New York. This tour is a great way to get to know one specific area in New York. We look forward to trying new areas, via the tours, during future visits.

4 of us signed up but one could not make it due to a leg injury. I could not find a sub on short notice. It would have been nice if she had been allowed to either get her $ back or reschedule or use it for another excursion since we are thinking about doing the Village. She had plenty of doctor's prescriptions and paperwork. We did return to the market to buy things and all were excellent but we were not able to shop a lot since we were not prepared to carry everything we would have liked to get back to NJ.

I have told others about the tour and they were very interested and I am giving them information. Would you be willing to send me 2 or 3 pamphlets since not all have computers?

The guide, Darren, was an asset since his personality was very charming. He took care of us with sincere concern ( he had to find a friend who got separated from the group). His patter was amusing as well.

Great Lunch Alternative

The 3 hour tasting tour of Chelsea Market and the Meatpacking District was terrific. The samples were generous and delicious. I have been on some tours where I was given a TINY cube of food to sample and this was not the case here. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very patient with the group I was in. My husband and I also enjoyed the Greenwich Cultural and Tasting tour that I took about 3 years ago, when I went with the same great tour guide, Toby. I recommend both of these tours to anyone that goes to NYC.

We are originally from Brooklyn, NY and New Jresey. We live in Florida for the past 35 years and go back to NYC regularly. On each trip we sign up for a tour and we are amazed at what we never knew and the direction that the City is taking. We learn so much about the people that give and donate to preserve and to make the city a place of history for all to come, see, taste and enjoy.

We highly recommend this tour so you can hear the evolution of a great city in motion.

This was our third food tour with Foods of NY and definitely the best. Our guide, Kurt, was exceptional. His knowledge & personality made for a fun-filled day even with the weather from the hurricane blowing through.

Thanks for providing such an economical and information packed event! The food was wonderful too!!

A Filling Experience!

My daughter and I went on this tour. We both enjoyed it very much. The guide, Kurt, was very knowledgeable and so funny! We enjoyed the taste testing very much.

We had bakery items, soup, breads, dairy, Italian specialty, gelato, and lots more! All good stuff! The Salt tasting experience I personally could have skipped!

I would recomend this tour to anyone who enjoys food and enjoys seeing rather strange places to buy it! The history of the are was facinating!

I even got to see where a part of the Food Network is!
