Probably the best 3 hours I spent in NYC

Last year we took the Greenwich Village tour and it was so great we stayed in the Village this year. After such a great experience we wanted to do another tour this year. I had been to Chelsea Market before but never knew all the history of the building or had eaten much of the food. Staying in a hotel you don't buy that much food.

We had a great selection of wonderful food and learned how long these family business had survived there. What an uninviting area it use to be and how now it is the new 'in' place to go . We saw where those who want to be seen shop and eat l amid the old meatpacking buildings adorned with graffitti .

Our guide Kirk was full of stories and anecdotes and a real asset to the tour.

I asked him if they were going to add any more tours because if they did, we would take them. What about the other end of town?

It was a very good value for the price and you really saw the area in depth. We even visited a B&B which we may stay at next year.

My suggestion is not to even think about it - JUST DO IT! (Either tour)

The tour was a great success. It was very interesting and informative to learn

about the history, the current status, and future plans for Chelsea Market and the

Meatpacking District . The food samples were delectable. Our guide, Wendy, was splendid. Her knowledge and enthusiasm insured a first-rate experience.

A great insight into an area of the city we had not yet explored. See this booming district now while there's still a hint of what it once was. Cindy was pleasant, professional and a wealth of information about the history of the area and the forces that are shaping it today. Learn a little something and enjoy some good food

There are only superlatives to descirbe our 3 hour tour with Cindy. I was born and raised in NYC and always knew this area as the meat packer's district. I was impressed with the work being done to preserve it as well as the artistic view that the developers have. The food tasting was good but more importantly I enjoyed the descriptions, history and interesting tidbits about this area. I've already recommended it to several of my friends.

This is the second Zerve tour we've taken. We did the Greenwich Village tour two years ago. While this was a great tour that opened up an area of the city that I didn't know much about, I would suggest that people that could do just one, do the Greenwich Village tour first. The tour guides on both tours were knowledgeable and interesting to talk with. They willingly provided individual attention, and tried to accomodate dietary constraints.

Howqever, the chelsea and Meatpacking District tour made for a very enjoyable day. Since there was less walking than the other tour, it was more relaxing. Most of the tour was at the market, going from store to store. There's a great selection of sponts to shop and eat at, and some to dine at that if we had more time we would have patronized. Some of them reminded me of the Pike Place Market in Seattle and other destination markets our here. Especially remarkable was the Lobster Place with the huge selection of seafoods and the great chowders. Also, the produce store was fascinating with its huge selection of mushrooms.

On future trips to New York, we'll be going back to the meatpacking district to see how it evolves.

Thanks for running these tours. I hope that by the time of our next trip there will be new offerings to consider.

Brochure did not accurately portray the samplings

The guide was informative about the history and culture of the area. She was lively, personable, and kept the tour interesting until the last half hour. We were all hot, tired, and ready to call it a day.

She held out the dessert as the incentive for holding us on a dirty, noisy, street corner until she ended her presentation. It would have been much better to walk us back to Chelsea market and finish in a pleasant setting in climate controlled circumstances.

My guest and I were not especially impressed with the samplings. The brochure showed pizza and a lovely display of desserts--neither were offered or mentioned in the lecture about where to find these items. Also, the ticket/Internet info stated that we would visit the Fruit Exchange. This establishment was not visited or an explanation given about why not.

My guest and I did not like the dessert given to us on a dirty, noisy, street corner.

Curt was most informative & entertaining as our food tour guide. As "native" New Yorkers taking our Floridian teenage grandson around, we discovered a NYC treasure for ourselves - the Chelsea Market. Not only do we plan to return there on our own, but several of our friends plan to go to the Chelsea Market (& possibly the Meatpacking District) based on our recommendation.
