I took the Greenwich tour a few years back and really enjoyed it, so I figured I'd try this one. It was fantastic! The guide was knowlegeable and entertaining. THe chosen vendors were very good, the area was perfect. I thought the tour was definitely worth the ticket price- food servings were generous- I like the Lobster bisque!

Thank you!

very interesting building and history of past and recent development and neighbourhood

food selection focused too much on sweet things--luncheon selection at buon italia was pedestrian and unsatisfying.

there was a sufficient quantity of food just not a balanced selection and not sophisticated enough--this is after all billed as a food tour and i (along with my friend) came away with no new knowledge

Tour guide very pleasant and knowledgable

My husband and I took this tour while on a short holiday in NY. We have visited the city before, but found this activity a great way to see parts of the city we had not seen before as well as try some great food from local vendors. We highly recommend this tour.

I thought that since this was a tour of Chelsea Meat Packing area there should have been a bit of meat to choose from. Also, it was supposed to be a 3 hour tour & was over 20 minutes early. I enjoyed what we did & where we went but I think it should have been w/in 10 minutes of the 3 hours & I think we could've had a taste of 1 or 2 more items from different places.

You can walk through Chelsea Market Place and miss some of the MOST important points of interest if you are not on this "somewhat exclusive" tour. Samplings of food and beverages are delightful as is the historical information offered forth by a guide who is energetic and entertaining, as well as informative and intelligent. The meat packing district has quite a bit of history that one would most likely not be privy to if not on this tour. One of the best offerings in the city. We also loved and highly recommend the Greenwich Village food and historical tour.

While I am a native New Yorker, there was much learned after having taken this tour. I think a lot has to do with the luck you have with your particular guide. Mine was very pleasant and definitely had more than just a working knowledge of the environment. I thought that the places we were taken were representative of the area and the many changes that seem to be taking place there. I enjoyed the different samples of food and could definitely see myself becoming a patron of some of those establishments. I also liked the walk outside where the guide pointed out some of the pricey stores that are coming into the area. I think this tour is a worthwhile experience for either a native or a tourist. Relating the information about the High Lline to the special section in the Sunday New York Times was a thoughtful touch.

Nice, but too much time in Chelsea Market

I enjoyed the tour overall, but I preferred the Greenwich Village tour. I thought that there was some interesting facts and information as well as nice food tastings on this tour, but feel that the Village tour had more to offer in terms of food value and neighborhood facts. Good tour to do in inclement weather because most of the time is spent indoors at the Chelsea market.

Different from, but just as great as, Greenwich!

We enjoyed this tour as much as the Greenwich Village tour we took in March 2005. Very different, very fun and informative.

I thought the tour was interesting, including the historical perspective of the Market and Meatpacking district. I was expecting to try a bit more food and I thought that there wasn't much food (I wasn't quite full at the end of the tour- and I don't need a lot of food), especially for the cost of the tour. Also, our guide was very strict about not buying while on the tour, which I understand to a certain extent. But, especially if people are still hungry, I think this rule can be a bit more flexible. I also think a wonderful addition to the tour would be a quick tour of the Food Network.
