So nice we did it twice

My husband and I took this tour a couple of years ago, and we enjoyed it so much that we returned this year with family visiting from California. Chelsea Market is a good choice when weather may be an issue, as the majority of this tour is indoors. Our guide Curt is entertaining and informative. The tastings are ample and varied. The two vegetarians in our group were not shortchanged. We were pleased with the meat-free substitutions that were provided. Added bonuses that we experienced on this second visit were a visit to the rooftop of the Gansevoort Hotel (great city views) and "having our tuchases blow dried" in the Morimoto restroom. Thanks, Curt!

Best part of our trip!

This food tour was so much fun. My husband and I went with our two teenage girls. We thought there might only be adults there, but the group was about half adults, half teenagers so it worked out great for all of us. Bob was a great guide and enthusiastic in his discussion, history and tastings. We were expecting small tastings, but in fact we were bursting at the seams by the end of the tour. I would highly recommend it.

So much to see, eat, and enjoy. Curt was THE best tour guide, mixing his knowledge of food, history, and New York with amazing good humor. A bounty of great entertainment and fun. Best food tour ever.

Fun Date in the City

The three hour tour flew by in a flash. Our guide Curt made the tour exciting, kept us laughing, and is very knowledgeable. The food and drinks were delicious. We also enjoyed learning about the history of the area. We were with a diverse group of people from all over the world which made for an extra delightful day. After the tour, my boyfriend and I went back to some of the establishments to pick up a few of our favorite treats.

This was a birthday gift to my boyfriend that we both got to enjoy!

Terrific Value!

Loved, loved, loved our guide, Darryl...very informative, energetic, entertaining...never a dull moment. The sheer volume of historical knowledge, background on the gentrification of the meat packing district, recommendations and samplings of FOOD was delightfully overwhelming. Excellent value. An entire afternoon packed with visual treats and culinary tastings offered by welcoming purveyors and shopkeepers. Our tour, the week of Christmas, meant an explosion of visitors and tourists and the weather was misty and dismal. But, our guide made the most of it and created a memorable experience for all. I'd highly recommend this activity to anyone with even the slightest interest in food.

The tour exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Darrell, knew every persons name and enthusiastically talked about the history of the area. We got to try a bunch of amazing food that I wouldn't have known about if we hadn't been on this tour. Although going into the tour I knew would we have a great time, by the end of the tour we were amazed by how much this tour had to offer.

We loved the Chelsea market food tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the building, surrounding areas, and NYC in general. She was gracious and witty and loved to answer questions. The store holders we met were lovely and proud of their businesses, and the food we got to sample along the way was wonderful. A great few hours eating and learning. Would highly recommend this tour.

Have done 3 tours with foods of NY. All 3 were well done. Organized educated guides. Almost too much information. Food samples were plentiful and delicious. Staff of the shops we visited were welcoming. Great way to learn an area of the city so you can Feel comfortable going back on your own. Or just to get a feel for the area and check it off your list. Highly recommend!!

Learned a lot and ate scrumptious goodies
Sun, Dec 21, 14   2:00 PM DanaLobell Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
The tour offered more food than I expected and all of it delish. I especially liked when we had a place to sit while tasting the goodies as it was difficult to walk and eat and look all at once. I think it might be more fun to cover sections of the market and then give us 10-15 minutes in one or two of them to wander about and meet back as I got quite mixed up about where we were. Besides the food, I especially liked learning about the area around Chelsea market and how it had changed over the years.
