Fabulous Insider Access to the Chelsea Market!

Our guide, Darrell was as entertaining as he was knowledgeable. Full of fun facts and stories, he had an amazing way of connecting with the group and by the end of the 3 hours, we were all friends! The food tastings were quite a treat and a nice overall sampling of the best of the market. We also ventured outside of the market to the surrounding neighborhood including the High Line which is a must-see. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough - I would have been overwhelmed if I tried to maneuver Chelsea Market on my own!

The food was delicious, the weather was perfect. The pace was good and I enjoyed the impromptu stops. Most importantly Curt was an EXCELLENT guide, I truly enjoyed myself from beginning to end.

Chelsea market meat packing district food tour

First, enjoyed the fact that we were meeting in an interesting building with a checkered past. It also helped that we were out of the heat in the elements. Darrell our guide is a hoot and a half. The food selections were OK. We enjoyed the heart of the village tour food selections Much more. Take this tour more for the backstory from Darrell rather than the food selections. However that is just my opinion. The lobster place was not on the actual list of tastings, but it is on their fave list. It is worth a visit alone.

This is a wonderful way to get to know the district, the city's history and the diverse food choices and philosophies. Recommended for people who want to see the everyday and unusual from something other than a bus.

My husband and I loved this tour and Daryl, our guide, was very entertaining. We spend several more hours exploring all the shops at the market after the tour and used our coupons to purchase yummy treats. Thank you for a wonderful tour!

Terrific Tour

Our guide, Curt, was terrific - he had endless energy and lots of information about food and the city, with some gossip and verbal recipes thrown in for good measure.

He was fantastic at remembering everyone's name, too - don't know how he did it, but it worked.

It was a great tour, especially the hotel roof it ended up on at the end - we stayed there awhile afterward for a drink, and it was lovely and cool on a very hot day in the city.

The only negative is that Curt was not aware that I'm veggie.

When we were deciding which tour to book (this will be our third FONY tour), the person I spoke with said that, even though it was the meatpacking tour, they would arrange for some veggie alternatives for me.

Curt was able to do that after I mentioned it, but it would have been more considerate for the shops if they'd known ahead of time.

Other than that, like the previous tours, it was informative, the perfect length, with a great guide and plenty of food to sample.

Kurt, our tour guide, was very entertaining and informative. We were from our of state and really enjoyed not only the different foods, but all of the information about the area.

Local learning so much

I had a great time on this tour. I lived in NYC for nine years and never went to Chelsea Market, and the High Line wasn't even here before I left. I learned so many fun facts from my guide Robin, both food related and historical. I took my husband back down there just yesterday and pointed out some of the stuff I learned!
