All these years buying "Chinese" food and I've apparently never really had it before !! A great tour and the food quality was great, and the food quantity was just right.

Bert is the Best!

Bert was also our guide on the Greenwich Village Food Tour months ago also. He is very informative about the neighborhoods and food that we are sampling, he made us feel as we were in the know. We had to rush out of the Chinatown tour so I was unable to give him my feedback on the food selection. Bert, if you are reading this; the final dessert stop of a custard tart is not a good representation of Chinatown and done so much better in most of Europe. A suggestion would be to hunt down a good sesame ball - everyone likes those. I wasn't a fan of the eggplant & rice stop....very average food. The dim sum and duck were perfect. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon. Cheers, Gala Yayla

We are father and a 21 year old daughter, on her release-from-the-army trip (yes, we are from Israel…).

The ‘foods tour' was part of our one week stay in NYC, and turned out to be one of the most wonderful experiences we had.

It revealed for us the secretes of Chinatown alongside with the wonders of the Chinese food, in a way we never experienced before.

The group was just the right size, with plenty of wonderful and colorful people, the places we visited topped one another in atmosphere and (of course) their wonderful dishes, and finally – our guide – Rahim – who truly wrapped it all the best way possible.

Worth every penny, great fun, superb tour.

Another outstanding Foods of NY tour!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent Chinatown food tour. This was our fourth Foods of NY tour, and we considered it one of the best. Bert (sp?) our guide was terrific--engaging, informative, thoughtful, humorous, everything you'd want in a tour guide. This tour is a bit different from the other tours offered by Foods of NY. Rather than mainly enjoying tastings "on the street," the Chinatown tour includes three substantial in-restaurant tastings and one "on the street' dessert. First stop was Dim Sum GoGo, where we had the best dim sum we've ever had. Who knew how delicious dim sum could be when it hasn't been sitting on steam carts for hours? This dim sum is all ordered "on demand," so you order what you want and out the dumplings come, fresh, delicious, practically translucent, and not the least bit gummy. We loved all five dumplings we sampled and felt that the portion was quite substantial. Our second stop was for Peking duck and was also outstanding. Our third sit-down tasting was at a Cantonese restaurant where we had a scrumptious eggplant/veggie dish and fried rice that didn't look (or taste) anything like fried rice I've eaten in my life. Just wonderful! Finally, we ended with a warm egg custard tart, which added a lovely sweet touch. Interspersed with the wonderful food were Bert's entertaining and fascinating stories and anecdotes about the Chinatown neighborhood, its history and culture. I cannot recommend this tour enough!

We had Rahim once before on a tour of Soho and really enjoyed him. This tour was a little different, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be going back to a couple of the restaurants. DimSum Gogol was a favorite as was ABC and their delicious eggplant dish. We look forward to returning to New York and revisiting some of the tours we've done before since we have now done all of them. We recommend this company to anyone going to New York or locals, many of whom have never heard of these tours.

My sister & I took the tour as part of our vacation to NYC. Burt/Bert (sp) was our guide and he was AWESOME! He took such great care of everyone, made sure our every need was taken care of; he told us great stories, kept the tour moving, it never got boring, the food was fantastic, and we LOVED the egg custard at the end. We also met the lovliest people in our group; the weather was perfect and all in all it was a great time and great memory. For me the only bad thing was seeing the ducks head hanging off the platter LOL but other than that I would HIGHLY recommend the tour to anyone I know going to NYC. Thank you so much! Very informative about Chinatown. Visited many interesting places to go back and shop. Above all the most exciting part of the tour is the food which is a very tasty meals. You must go very hungry because samples are real meals. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

My son and I took the Chinatown Walking Tour led by Burt and enjoyed every minute of it! He is very knowledgeable and made the experience a lot of fun. The food was excellent (so good that we went back to Dim Sum GoGo the next day!) and the portions were extremely generous. The Peking Duck House is an experience in itself. The duck is carved tableside and is to die for! What I would give for that duck carcass now that I'm home! This tour is worth every penny spent and more! Thank you, Burt for making this Florida girl's first trip to NYC complete!
