Chinatown Learning

Being from an upper midwest community with little Chinatown knowledge, I would not have even ventured into the area if it had not been for this tour. Having attended another tour last month with friends, I talked my husband into doing this tour and we both loved it! We learned so much about the history of the area and particularly "real" Chinese food. It was fantastic! Our guide was enthusiastic and excellent.

Great introduction to Chinatown and especially its restaurants. Raheem was knowledgeable and personable. He took us though places we had been before, but told us things we didn't know. We had a great time, just pace yourself. There is plenty of food. We weren't hungry until about ten o'clock at night. We intend to sign up for another Foods of New York tour.

Raheem is a terrific guide...and I'm desperately jealous that we don't have a dim sum place as good as Dim Sum Go Go near us. Great tour, good walk, a lot of tasty food!

Having been to Chinatown before, it was wonderful to finally understand some of the history of both the place itself and its culinary delights. Our guide Raheem was knowledgeable and personable. Our diverse and friendly group made the tour even more enjoyable. My husband and I have been on 3 other tours with this company and have never had a bad experience.

These tours were the highlights of our vacation and we wouldn't change a thing. Rahim is a very gracious host and tour guide and looked after everyone beautifully, providing lots of fascinating information about the area that we would never have been able to find out on our own. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of the food provided and actually skipped dinner that evening. The night before we left we met some tourists from California and gave them the web address for these tours in hopes there would be some available slots. We plan to repeat these tours in the future and look forward to seeing Rahim again next year for the sushi dinner.

The food was superb and substantial; Rahim was an enthusiastic and energetic tour guide. He provided a wealth of information about how foods are prepared, their history, and the etiquette and customs involved in eating at the Chinese table. His discussion of the history of the Chinese in America, the streets and hidden attractions of Chinatown was fascinating. Having grown up in NYC and having visited Chinatown on many occasions, we thought we knew the area. Now we know that we didn't. There is so much to learn and enjoy on the Chinatown tour that we plan to repeat this walking and dining experience.
