Along with my 2 girlfriends we attended this tour on a Thursday. The directions to get to the meeting were clear and concise....Susan, our tour director, was very pleasant and informative. The food was WONDERFUL. Now we know the great places to return to on our next trip. We look forward to attending the Greenwich Village tour in the spring. We highly reccommend this eating and learning tour!

Susan was a great tour guide!!

We enjoyed the tour but a little too long - 2 hours would be enough. Susan, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were disappointed in some of the food choices. The Cuban restaurant sampling was bland for Cuban food - they should have served the traditional beans, rice and pork or a Cuban sandwich. As for the Italian restaurant, the sampling should have been both the pesto dish and the sauce dish. Also, very disappointed that the bakery, "Once Upon a Tart," had very little pastries left to purchase. We wanted to purchase scones and muffins. I guess you need to get there first thing in the morning! The tour did show us places that we would visit again on our next trip to NY - coffee and tea shop, Italian store (homemade ravioli), and a few of the eateries. We were not too thrilled about the food samples but did enjoy the history on the tour. We also enjoyed our drinks at Cafe Del Mare (meeting place for the tour) and Linwood the bartender!! Very quaint place - food looked great. We will be back next time for brunch and to see Linwood!!

Fabulous City Snapshot

Our group aged in range from 26-64, male and female and WE ALL HAD A FANTASTIC TIME!!!!! We would heartily reccomend it to anyone who wants to get a glimpse of the city and life in the area. The food samplings were ample and the venues provided us a list of wonderful new places to visit on return trips.

Our guide, Suzanne, was knowlegeable, humorous and treated us like friends touring her city. She was wonderful and conveyed her love of the area. We all felt lucky that she was such a warm and accomodating hostess of the Central Village and Soho Tour.

Your well planned and organized tours make a wonderful activity for out of towners. The sheer greatness of NYC can be overwhelming, however, your tours make it easy for visitors to embrace and begin to feel comfortable manuevering through what is one of the most wonderful cities in the world.

I have traveled to Paris, Rome, Barcelona and more and they could surely take note of your efforts to provide tours that give real insight into the heart of the city. They're not just show and tell of historic buildings.

I would also like to take the time to thank Amy for all her help in arrranging this tour. It TRULY made our visit to the city one that we will long remember. We can't stop telling everyone about it.

After taking the Central Greenwich Village tour with Susan, I feel like a local. Besides the wonderful food at the stops, I garnered so much history of the area from Susan. After pointing out which building where the apartment that our group of four was staying in, Susan told us the history of that building also. The food was delicious and plentiful. We were too full for dinner that night. A++++++

Our tour guide was Susan and she was a book full of knowledge. The restuarants we went to some sit down and some we eat on the street were such a great mix of ethenic foods. We all couldn't stop talking about how wonderful it all was! We actually were so full from all the eating i couldn't believe how much food we actually got at each stop...way more than i've ever gotten in any other city. I look forward to going back and doing another tour with this company!! Five stars!!!

Eating your way through the community

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of history involved in the tour - it was a great basis for talking about food, culture, architecture and recent developments. The tour moved at a brisk pace but without seeming rushed. The samples of the food were larger than I expected - and the variety of food offered was fantastic. I would have loved a bit more time to look around and shop but understandably, the tour would have ended up being 5+ hours long! Our tour guide was excellent (Rahim) ... he kept us fed and entertained!

Great way to spend 3 hours in NYC

Would highly recommend taking this tour (or one of the others offered). Our excellent guide, Diana, imparted interesting facts about the Greenwich Village/So Ho area as we toured around a 4-5 block area, with short stops to learn about architecture, culture, entertainment, etc. We also stopped at 6-7 places to sample foods from a variety of restaurants/stores (e.g. Cuban, Italian, French pastry, Cheese, etc.). Food was very good and an excellent variety, and there was plenty of it. What a great 3 hours, especially with the beautiful weather we were lucky to have in mid-October! I would definitely do another Foods of New York Tour next time I'm in NYC.

Had high expectations and they were more than fulfilled. Great walk around the neighborhood and we got to taste some really tasty food. A small and intimate group which made it easy and "fuss-less". Great mix of participants made it even better. I highly recommend the Foods of New York Tours!
