Eating your way through the community

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of history involved in the tour - it was a great basis for talking about food, culture, architecture and recent developments. The tour moved at a brisk pace but without seeming rushed. The samples of the food were larger than I expected - and the variety of food offered was fantastic. I would have loved a bit more time to look around and shop but understandably, the tour would have ended up being 5+ hours long! Our tour guide was excellent (Rahim) ... he kept us fed and entertained!

Great way to spend 3 hours in NYC

Would highly recommend taking this tour (or one of the others offered). Our excellent guide, Diana, imparted interesting facts about the Greenwich Village/So Ho area as we toured around a 4-5 block area, with short stops to learn about architecture, culture, entertainment, etc. We also stopped at 6-7 places to sample foods from a variety of restaurants/stores (e.g. Cuban, Italian, French pastry, Cheese, etc.). Food was very good and an excellent variety, and there was plenty of it. What a great 3 hours, especially with the beautiful weather we were lucky to have in mid-October! I would definitely do another Foods of New York Tour next time I'm in NYC.

Had high expectations and they were more than fulfilled. Great walk around the neighborhood and we got to taste some really tasty food. A small and intimate group which made it easy and "fuss-less". Great mix of participants made it even better. I highly recommend the Foods of New York Tours!

This food tour is a "must do" activity... especially if you are new to Manhattan and are still trying to navigate through the maze of streets and restaurants! The restaurant choices were excellent and my tour guide was was helpful, informative.. and fun to listen to!

Learning where to go from a Tour Guide who is a seasoned New Yorker - saved me both time and money! I plan to do this again on my next visit!

This is my second tour and have enjoyed them so very much. I want to view more and have been telling everyone about them. They are special and the history surrounding them is even more special. I must add, they are very casual and comfortable.

Rahim is Fabulous!!

This tour was absolutely delightful! Originally booked for myself as a single traveler, a friend then opted to join me. While Food Tours and Zerve can't promise they'll add someone at the last second, they both were very accommodating and my friend was able to join. We enjoyed the commentaries that Rahim offered -- trivia, neighborhood stories, and plenty of laughs. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area (and plenty of places outside of our walking tour), and he took the time to ensure everyone was comfortable. Staging this tour was perfect – the right number of stops, the right intervals for seated eating versus curbside tastings. The paper guide we each received serves as an excellent resource for future trips back into the area. (In fact, that same evening we returned to Monty's on MacDougal for more of that fabulous Italian food we sampled during the day -- and they recognized us from the tour!) I look forward to many more trips with this company and recommend them to single travelers or groups.

This is my 2nd tour with Foodtours and loved them both. Last year went with a different tour group and was disappointed. Can't wait to do the Meatpacking /Chelsea tour next year.

Good overview about the food options

This was a fun tour. Most of the places shown were special in a way or the other. The guide was good and very enthusiastic. And we had more food than we could eat.

I especially loved the holes-in-the-wall he showed us, as, e.g., the smoked Mozzarella place. Only the one Italian place with the "super original Bolognese" were more like a lot of other Italian restaurants I've seen.

Worth it.

Great way to see and taste the neighborhood!

Our tour guide, Raheem, was the BEST! We've been on the other three walking tours, and this was by far the most informative and had the most substantial tastings! Our guide shared his personal experiences in the neighborhood and made it fun for all to taste the different foods. Before each tasting, he clearly described the sampling, piquing our taste buds for what was soon to be served to us. We were facing threatening weather, and he assured us there would be provisions made to keep us safe and dry, while not missing any of the stops. We so loved one of the restaurants that we had dinner there, where we were welcomed as if we were family; Raheem was right - the proprietors in this area are warm and inviting. We'll do this same tour again, and we'll send all our friends!

Our tour guide was very knowledgable! He included a lot of witty info from personal experiences, along with historical facts. My husband and I will take additional tours on our next visit. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. The food tastings were incredible.
