Delicious Food with a Slice of History

My 14-year-old son and I took the Heart of the Village food tour with Susan on July 25. Not only were we treated to an amazing array of international foods on this tour, we also learned more than expected about the area through which we walked. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area her passion for New York was apparent. There was more than enough food to satisfy even a growing teenage boy ... believe me, no one went hungry! Definitely a highlight of our New York trip, and I will definitely do another tour the next time I'm in town.

The food is great (and very plentiful!), but you also learn so much about the area and its history. Our guide, Susan, could not have been more knowledgable and engaging. My husband and I had a wonderful time!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Heart of the Village tour with our enthusiastic guide Susan. We learnt plenty about the history of the neighbourhood and the current cultural space. They were happy to cater to a vegetarian diet and I still got to taste 6 delicious local foods. Next time I return to NYC I will try one of the other tours!

We had more food than we could normally eat on a lunch sitting so we didn't need dinner either just a light snack at night. The information on the local area was very interesting and our guide was very interested in the whole group which aloud us all to chat

Heart of the Village Food Tour

Food was great! Loved the village we toured in. Tour guide was very knowledgeable on the history of the village and the restaurants/food. Needed more time to drink alcohol if it's going to be served- could cut out some of the history stops along the tour to allow more time at the sit down places or do sample sizes of alcohol (half glass/half price).

I have been and enjoyed many food cultural food tours. The Village tour is my most favorite by far. Not only was the food spectacular, but Susan the tour guide was so informative and passionate about Greenwich Village. It seems she has experienced and watched the neighborhood go through many changes in the past 40 or so years.

I highly recommend this tour.

Food and History, how can you beat it!

Our tour guide was great. Susan learned our names and was very interactive. We enjoyed the food. The kati roll place was the weakest is the line up. They should do chicken or paneer in the roll, not egg. I don't think it entices people to go back. We did go back and eat at the Cuban place. Cuba was delicious. We had steak and red snapper that was do flavorful.

I have been to NYC several times and have done all of the "touristy" things...and this is by far the best thing I have ever done! We learned a lot about The Village history and also ate delicious food. My only regret is we didn't do this earlier in the trip so we could go back to the area and restaurants.

We visited seven venues, all of which were very good. There was an abundance of food. Our guide was wonderful, interspercing local history with food information. The pace was just right and all the food was delicious.
