History, Exercise and Food - What Could Be Better?

We've been on the East Village Tour and the Meatpacking/Chelsea Tour so we knew we'd enjoy this tour as well and indeed we did! Raheem, our guide, was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very attentive to the needs of the group. He gets an A+! A few of the food choices did not live up to the quality of the other tours, specifically the Indian food. The fresh, smoked mozzerella, sun dried tomatoes and Italian sausage were excellent as was the pear tart. Our mouths are still watering! The next time we're in New York City we plan to go on the Chinatown tour. Several of the people on our tour were raving about that one too! I would recommend all the Foods of NY Tours I've been on. You learn interesting historical facts, eat great food and get some exercise to boot. It's a win/win experience!!

What a way to end our 7 day NY adventure...too bad we did not do this at the beginning in order to return to some of the venues. We are still talking about our experience! Our guide was enthusiastic, informative, and accommodating:) His expertise of the area was outstanding. We highly recommend this walking and tasting tour to anyone who enjoys history, culture and delicious food. Our only regret was we had time to attend only one of the many foods tours offered.

Susan is a very knowledgeable tour guide, who seems to really love Greenwich Village. My daughter and I enjoyed the stop at Cuba the best, because of the wonderful Sangria and Mojitos.

Great history of area and good eats!

This tour was what we'd hoped it would be---learning about the area and tasting some good food. The only disappointment was BellaVitae---while it was interesting learning about the restautrant and it's food/drink philosophy, it was odd to be inside, looking at the kitchen, etc., and not be offered something to taste---how hard would it be to put out some olives and cheese? However, that's the only criticism---our guide was knowlegdable, articulate, had a good way with people, and kept things moving. I especially enjoyed the walk through Washington Square and the explanation of its history. A good experience.

This was our 4th Taste Tour with your company--and we continue to enjoy each one. Your guides are engaging, enthusiastic, and filled with ideas that will appeal to locals and tourists alike. My daughter & I follow up each tour with return visits to stores, restaurants, music venues, and the streets themselves which have greatly added to our enjoyment of our days in Manhattan. We returned to our "old" favorite neighborhoods (which we learned about on previous tours taken last fall) during our recent spring visit. We ended this trip with Susan & your SoHo tour & look forward to our next visit--to return to some of the wonderful places we visited with her. We highly recommend your tours to our friends, neighbors, and even fellow hotel guests!

I was excited to find out that it was about more than food. Learned some neighborhood history and stopped in some places I'd never noticed.

This is my 3rd food tour in NY. As before, it was wonderful! The guide, Rahem, was very knowledgeable and likeable. We had ample samplings and a good variety of foods. The guide always gives a lot of history of the locale and details about the architecture. Each participant is given a booklet/handout detailing the stores and restaurants included in the tour so you can return there easily if you so desire. I have enjoyed them so much that when I complete all that are offered, I will probably repeat them. Loads of fun too.

Great Tour, Great Tour Guide

Susan was a very gracious and knowledgeable tour guide for the 10 of us (6 didn't show up).

We started out a Cafe Del Mare-a cafe with it's own personality and cast of characters. We had a lovely bottle of wine and cheese plate served by the day manager.

We proceeded along the streets and tasted interesting small bites of Indian, Italian, Cuban, and French food. We saw lovely neighborhoods and lovely neighbors. I was a bit disappointed to not even a piece of cheese at the second Italian restaurant (not Monte's, the other one-see, I cannot even remember the name). I was not aware that FONY pays for the "bites" we taste. I felt it made the restauranteur look cheap... when really Todd chose the what and where. You may want to reconsider because the Cuban food, although tasty, wasn't the "heart healthiest" with the fried Empanadas.

Anyway, we love the FONY tours and will probably book another the next time we visit. Susan shared a lot of personal experiences with us-a plus as it makes the tour seem genuine and not "canned".

Re: the Entertainment Scene...walking into Club WHA did not do a whole lot for me...it would be cool to go into a Jazz club when rehearsal is going on. That would REALLY be a memory.

Todd, thanks for the great tour. I plan to send Susan a thank you note myelf. As I have previously mentioned, Curt did a nice Chelsea/MePa tour on Halloween last year.

P.S. Any chance of seeing a Food Network taping of Iron Chef? We went on our on to

Clinton St. Bakery (as recommended by Bobby Flay on an April "Throwdown". The blueberry pancakes were spectacular.

Lovely Historical Walk...

I loved that Rahim showed us all the historical significance of Greenich Village not just taking us to restaurants.

He was very thorough and the food was fantastic. As a local, i have racked up on many new restaurants to visit in the near future.

I brought my Mother who was visiting from Los Angeles and she only speaks Japanese. I translated the tour for her and she was also very impressed with Rahim's historical knowledge of the area and she very much enjoyed the food. She is so sad that she can't get Joe's Smoked Mozzarella back in LA.

Thank you for the wonderful Tour!
