Wonderful, not to be missed tour

This is my 3rd food tour in NY. As before, it was wonderful! The guide, Rahem, was very knowledgeable and likeable. We had ample samplings and a good variety of foods. The guide always gives a lot of history of the locale and details about the architecture. Each participant is given a booklet/handout detailing the stores and restaurants included in the tour so you can return there easily if you so desire. I have enjoyed them so much that when I complete all that are offered, I will probably repeat them. Loads of fun too.

Susan was a very gracious and knowledgeable tour guide for the 10 of us (6 didn't show up).

We started out a Cafe Del Mare-a cafe with it's own personality and cast of characters. We had a lovely bottle of wine and cheese plate served by the day manager.

We proceeded along the streets and tasted interesting small bites of Indian, Italian, Cuban, and French food. We saw lovely neighborhoods and lovely neighbors. I was a bit disappointed to not even a piece of cheese at the second Italian restaurant (not Monte's, the other one-see, I cannot even remember the name). I was not aware that FONY pays for the "bites" we taste. I felt it made the restauranteur look cheap... when really Todd chose the what and where. You may want to reconsider because the Cuban food, although tasty, wasn't the "heart healthiest" with the fried Empanadas.

Anyway, we love the FONY tours and will probably book another the next time we visit. Susan shared a lot of personal experiences with us-a plus as it makes the tour seem genuine and not "canned".

Re: the Entertainment Scene...walking into Club WHA did not do a whole lot for me...it would be cool to go into a Jazz club when rehearsal is going on. That would REALLY be a memory.

Todd, thanks for the great tour. I plan to send Susan a thank you note myelf. As I have previously mentioned, Curt did a nice Chelsea/MePa tour on Halloween last year.

P.S. Any chance of seeing a Food Network taping of Iron Chef? We went on our on to

Clinton St. Bakery (as recommended by Bobby Flay on an April "Throwdown". The blueberry pancakes were spectacular.

Lovely Historical Walk...

I loved that Rahim showed us all the historical significance of Greenich Village not just taking us to restaurants.

He was very thorough and the food was fantastic. As a local, i have racked up on many new restaurants to visit in the near future.

I brought my Mother who was visiting from Los Angeles and she only speaks Japanese. I translated the tour for her and she was also very impressed with Rahim's historical knowledge of the area and she very much enjoyed the food. She is so sad that she can't get Joe's Smoked Mozzarella back in LA.

Thank you for the wonderful Tour!

Would definitely reccomend to 1st time visitors. Our tour of Greenwich Village/SoHo included hisorical info of the buildings and area, impact of current events as well as food tastings. Well paced and definitely worth the money. Groups were small enough to be able to hear everything and ask questions if desired. Did return to one of the restaurants for an average dinner, but would try a different one on my next visit.

My husband and I took this tour to have something fun to do together on a day off. We live in North Jersey and come to NYC a lot, but wanted to learn more about the area, eat delicious food and find some new restaurants to go to. We had a great time! Our tour guide, Rahim, was fantastic! He seemed to know everything about the whole area, the history, the foods, etc. He also seemed to be very well liked by the owners of all the places we toured. We were fortunate to have a small (7 people) group which made it even better.

We definitely ate lots of delicious food and learned lots and went back to purchase pasta and cheese from 2 of the stores. We also plan on going back to some of the restaurants.

We would highly recommend this tour to anyone, whether you are visiting NYC from far away or live locally.

I was with my granddaughter 19 years old and she enjoyed as much if not more than I did. Our guide was very informative, funny and charming and willing to answer any question posed to him. We learned the history of the area and went back that night to dine at the Italian restaurant that we were introduced to during our tour. We saw areas of the City that we would have otherwise not seen. Wonderful and a must do when visiting New York.

My 3 sisters and I went on the Village/Soho tour on the 12md tour on the 13th March. it was a great way to see the real New York, enjoy lunch and also find some great eateries. Our tour guide Rahim was great fun and very informative. We're only sorry we didn't book another of the tours and will definitely do so when we go back again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, in spite of the cold weather. I had done the Greenwich Village tour previously, and was eager to try another. This did not disappoint at all. I highly recommend it as a first tasting tour or for those who are returning customers.

Wish it could have been longer

Although the weather was below freezing January 31, Susan the guide kept us warm moving through the Village, tasting some great food and getting a history lesson of this vibrant area. I loved the information on architecture and what had happened at various spots. Susan kept the commentary moving, the info nuggets fascinating and the food spaced right. I only wish this 3 hour tour, that became three and a half hours, could have lasted LONGER.

The food and drink at Cuba were excellent and the soup at Montes' divine.

Be sure you don't plan anything right afterwards, because you don't want to rush this and you'll probably want to stay in the area to pick up something to eat later, to browse the shops or plan your evening in one of the many clubs pointed out during the walk. Fabulous - can't recommend it enough. I'll come back to do this one again, as well as try others. Thanks!
