Good food and Great Fun

We had previously been on the other Food tours of New York, the Original Greenwich Tour, which was SO much fun so we decided to try this one. Oh my goodness, so much fun, so much delicious food, so much diversity, it was wonderful. It's a relatively long tour, 3 hours, but we stayed in a relatively small area so there wasn't too much waking. Our tour guide was wonderful, Susan, she was funny and informative, and the other tour guests were so nice and fun. We come to New York 3-4 times a year so we feel like we know the city fairly well, however these tours give you such a great way to try restaurants without having to spend an entire meal at them. We have already revisited some of the restaurants. We will definitely do more of these, my daughter is now in school at NYU so I expect we will be visiting even more often.

Perfect birthday gift for an out-and-about wife

My wife hates it when I buy her 'things' most times for holidays because most things she wants are either far too expensive for the both of us or she simply doesn't really 'love' most of the things I buy for her. Thankfully, this gift was quite different.

I knew my wife was a 'foodie' that typically loved watching FoodTV and cooking shows and the like. She also LOOOOVES trivia so history and 'culture' is always interesting to her. So when I told her of this walking food tour she was all in.

The tour guide was a knowledgable and enthusiastic woman that had lived in the Greenwich Village area for many years. She knew and genuinely loved the area and its history so the stories and explanations that she spoke of always caught your interest even if you weren't particularly interested in history to begin with. From references to recent and older movies, musicians, and celebs, all who were on the tour could relate.

Then, of course, there was the food. With an excellent selection for both meat eater and vegetarian, every where that we went BEGGED for my wife and I to return to at some point later. We'll definitely hold on the pamphlet and be sure to tell the restaurants that Foods of NY Tours sent us!

Must do

We had been recommended to take this tour and I must say from the moment we met our tour guide -sorry I can't remember her name - but she could remember all our names and there were 14 of us!

We got a great insight into the village as it was and as it is today.

The food was amazing, but be warned don't have lunch beforehand! The tastings were not the normal tasting size portions! The size of the group was perfect. I would say to anybody it is a must do!

A foodie couple from Dallas

My wife and I toured with Barri on a hot Friday afternoon. Barri was enthusiastic, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the history and current make up of Greenwich Village. The food samples were delicious, varied, and quite substantial. Most in our group were stuffed by the end of the tour. Barri kept us supplied with water during the heat of the day as we learned about the architecture and history of the area in addition to the seven food and drink stops. The tour was the perfect lenghth. Will definitely take this tour again!

Our group of 12 spent just over 3 hours walking and tasting. The guide was well informed, articulate and shared her passion for the region and its food. There was plenty to eat. Very glad we did the tour and in all likelihood will do another.
