Great way to spend 3 hours in NYC

Would highly recommend taking this tour (or one of the others offered). Our excellent guide, Diana, imparted interesting facts about the Greenwich Village/So Ho area as we toured around a 4-5 block area, with short stops to learn about architecture, culture, entertainment, etc. We also stopped at 6-7 places to sample foods from a variety of restaurants/stores (e.g. Cuban, Italian, French pastry, Cheese, etc.). Food was very good and an excellent variety, and there was plenty of it. What a great 3 hours, especially with the beautiful weather we were lucky to have in mid-October! I would definitely do another Foods of New York Tour next time I'm in NYC.

this tour was, on balance, quite good: an interesting mix of local history and food

far too,ooooooooooooooooooooo protracted;

the content could have easily and happily been dealt with in 2 of the 3 hours.

Added time is NOT, not, neccessarily added value: on the contrary it can devalue the product.

This is my second tour and have enjoyed them so very much. I want to view more and have been telling everyone about them. They are special and the history surrounding them is even more special. I must add, they are very casual and comfortable.

After our entertaining afternoon with Susan, my husband and I were able to impress our daughter and her boy friend with our knowledge of Village life and history.

The tour description recommended that we skip lunch which we did, but we also had to skip dinner later. Three hours of eating seemed to be all we needed for the day.

Our tour guide, Raheem, was the BEST! We've been on the other three walking tours, and this was by far the most informative and had the most substantial tastings! Our guide shared his personal experiences in the neighborhood and made it fun for all to taste the different foods. Before each tasting, he clearly described the sampling, piquing our taste buds for what was soon to be served to us. We were facing threatening weather, and he assured us there would be provisions made to keep us safe and dry, while not missing any of the stops. We so loved one of the restaurants that we had dinner there, where we were welcomed as if we were family; Raheem was right - the proprietors in this area are warm and inviting. We'll do this same tour again, and we'll send all our friends!

My friend and I decided to take the tour as part of a weekend in NYC. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. The combination of a delightful tour guide (Raheem), wonderful, diverse tasting experiences, and information about the area made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I look forward to another walking tour on my next trip!

Long on trivia, short on food knowledge

The tour of Central Village was a lot of meaningless trivia and very little on actual food knowledge. On several occaisions, the group stayed on the sidewalk across from the establishment and never even saw the inside of the place. We heard about the leader's family's favorites and continual rants about NYU but talked to only a few of the business owners.

We did a similar tour last year and this year was even better. Guide (Barri) was wonderful and food was really good. The history parts were so interesting and loved the people stories. Would recommend it and would do it again.
