Our guide Susan was knowledgeable, energetic and definitely an ambassador of both the Village and its diverse cuisine. By the end of the tour, she was like a familiar and trusted family friend. We have done several other food tours and have enjoyed each and every one. It is the perfect way to sample the tastes of the city and get to know some history as well!!

This was our 4th Foods of NY tour in the past 5 years and once again we were delighted. Susan met us outside of Monte's Trattoria in the Village and was attentive, informative and engaging during the entire tour. The food venues were diverse and delicious and the history and culture Susan shared with us about the city was most interesting. We enjoyed an amazing melted cheese and brisket sandwich from Melt Kraft whose cheeses come from a local artisan dairy,an Indian wrap from Masala Times Indian Street Food, penne pasta with a delicious Bolognese from Monte's Tratoria, Margherita pizza from Artichoke Pizza with the most incredible crust, deliciously light & crispy empanadas from Cuba, and finally, salted caramel and chocolate French Macarons from Francois Payard Bakery. Interspersed with the gourmet delicacies we enjoyed, we also stopped in to Porto Rico coffee roasters as well as Sullivan Street Tea and Spice Co. All in all, it was a MEMORABLE tour and we look forward to joining another group soon. While all the Foods of NY guides we've been on tours with have been outstanding, Susan went the extra steps to get acquainted as well insure each one of us was thoroughly enjoying our experience. After having gone on tours led by 2 other tour companies in the city, we are more convinced than ever that Foods of NY is the BEST! Thank you for such a great experience and we look forward to our next food adventure! Lucy from San Francisco

Great Peek into Insiders View of the City

The guide, Susan, clearly loves and respects her City and in particular, the Village. She has great historical knowledge as well as great taste in food! I enjoyed all the fun facts, and her ability to answer questions on the spot. There was another guide with a leader that had a bull horn (or something like it) that just screamed TOURIST. I would NEVER want to be part of that type of tour.

Susan was also mindful of the heat, and made sure we were able to get out of the sun whenever she could.

I would definitely do one again, as well as recommend a tour to friends. Thanks.

Perfect Way to Food Your Way Around NYC

We decided to do a Food Tour during our recent visit to NYC to experience various restaurants and areas of the City. Heart of the Village seemed a perfect way to See Greenich Village and we were so right. The guide, Susan was very friendly, remembered names, excited to show off the area and share some history and most of all food.

We first tasted grilled cheese and after one bite we all knew this was going to be a great tour of street food and sit down as well. Next stop was to Marsala for an Indian roll up with egg and spices. It was delicious and we topped it off with a mango lassi similar to a creamsicle melted - both very good. We had a taste of pizze pie with a wonderful crispy crust and fresh basil making it an outstanding margherita pizze. We toured past Washington Square and some tenement buildings getting some history of the area. We had a sit down for pasta which left us wanting to come back another for more items on the menu. We visited a coffee shop and smelled wonderful fresh coffee beans and made a visit to a Mexican restaurant for brisket tacos and a little margarita in a glass and not on a pizza this time. Yum. A sip of some wonderful teas and ending the tour with a macaron made for a perfect 3 hour adventure and left us wanting to come back and visit every establishment on the tour plus other shops. There were discount coupons as well to purchase some goods.

Thank you for an excellent sampling of food and history.

My husband and I have been on several food tours in many USA cities, but this is the best one ever. Our tour guide (sorry can't recall her name) was fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and organized. The food was fantastic, and there was so much food. The locale and the food made this so memorable. I can't recommend this tour enough! It was the best!

The heart of the village tour was a lovely mix of history and food of the area.

Susan was a fantastic host, very welcoming and inclusive. Make sure you come hungry, plenty of tastings and generous portions. Our group went back the next night to one of the restaurants we were so impressed by it. Overall a great experience. would recommend doing a tour if coming to New York.

This was our 2nd Foods of NY Tour, both were equally wonderful. Great food, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides and the walk was very doable. We visited very interesting restaurants and shops and the amount of food was more than enough for mid-day. Our guide (Susan) went above and beyond, because it was my husband's birthday, she arranged for him to receive a mini flan with sparkler at the Cuban restaurant with all of us singing "Happy Birthday" to him. I am sure that we will do another Foods of NY Tour in the future!!
