Great guides, good information, too much standing

I loved the information that we were given about the area that we were in and the restaurants that we could return to to eat,d rink and derive entertainment from. The down part of the trip was a lot of standing around instead of walking or finding a spot where we could all sit and listen to the guides. The food was good and they accommodated individuals who were vegans and disliked spicey food. Very considerate. Some of the portions could have been larger or peraps have two small ortions of two different foods at the same location. I wold reccommend this tour to others in the New York area as something to do when they first arrived so that they had options for dinners and entertainment away from Broadway.

very good

The tour was very good. Barry seemed annoyed when I bought some food at a pasta shop. She told me three times that the tour would not wait. I agreed each time, saying OK, we'll catch up. The third time was REALLY annoying. The group had not left when my purchase was complete for reasons that have nothing to do with me. Therefore, at least two of the three naggings were superfluous.

Also, there was no bathroom stop on a three hour event.. Not so good for persons over sixty.

Otherwise, we enjoyed the food, the history, and the tour.

Great selection of restaurants and food - Italian, Indian, Cuban- and the desserts were to die for! I was oink-full by the end and grateful for the walking route and pauses to learn about the neighborhood. It was a small group which made it very comfortable and easy to maneuver. The guide was lively fun and easy interesting. A few ncredible vale for the price! I'd do it again - and again!

Had a super time and ate way too much food - don't believe the reviews that say the food is not enough - It is! and very good and diverse. Diana was the best guide we could have had. Born and raised in area, great stories, big time knowledge of the culinary and other history of the area. Funny and informative, she showed us how special the food and other options in the village are and gave us many ideas for a return trip. We scratched the surface in 2+ hours.. We had a great time on my foodie daughter's 21st birthday trip to NYC!

All the Foods of New York tours are awesome, but we especially like the Heart of the Village because Susan was our tour guide. She knows this neighborhood so well and she shares the history and introduces us to a wonderful variety of restaurants and shops that we would have walked right past if we were exploring on our own. It's a great 3 hours. Wear your walking shoes and come hungry!

Family loved it!

A great choice for feeding and entertaining our group of 9, ages 12 - 60. Even the hubby, who works in NYC and avoids it when he doesn't have to be there, enjoyed himself. Our guide Susan clearly loves doing this, and made this slice of the Village come alive. Plenty of delicious food, interesting info, and relaxed pace. Half our group was local, half from California but familiar with the city, and we all got something new and fun out of it. And no eyerolls from the teens - wow! Highly recommend.

Unfortunately it rained the entire tour, but we still had a great time. Susan was a wonderful tour guide, and the food was fantastic. We are still talking about it. We would definitely do this tour again.

Fun and Informative

Very pleasantly surprised. I was a bit apprehensive being a former New Yorker. I thought the tour might be cheesy (no pun intended.) Afterall my friends and I know everything there is to know about the city. LOL. Not so! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. Of course he spoke about the local food establishments but he also talked about the local history, showed us iconic buildings and mentioned their famous past and present inhabitants. We enjoyed all the food items that we sampled - great flavors and diversity. And the portions were larger than expected (don't eat breakfast first.) Overall a fun filled afternoon. Can't wait to come back and go on another tour.

Great Food

The food on our tour was wonderful. Our guide Barri was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and New York. I would definitely take another tour with this group. I was very full by the time we left. My only complaint was that our group was too big (17). We had too many people to fit into several of the food establishments. The ambiance of the restaurant is just as important as the food sometimes. Overall a good tour.
